Saint Lucia Kings will look to strengthen their position in the Caribbean Premier League 2026 points table when they take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 25 at Warner Park, Basseterre, on September 3. The fixture will be an important one for the Kings as they aim to build momentum heading into the business end of the league stage. The match will begin at 7:00 PM local time on September 3, translating to 4:30 AM IST on September 4.
Saint Lucia have already faced the Patriots once this season, suffering a five-wicket defeat after posting 155/8. However, the Kings have since shown considerable improvement and have several match-winners capable of turning the contest around. Their most recent completed fixture against Trinbago Knight Riders saw them field a combination featuring Tim Seifert, Kamil Pooran, John Campbell, Charith Asalanka and Roston Chase.
1. Tim Seifert (WK)
Tim Seifert is expected to continue opening the innings and keeping wickets. The New Zealand international brings considerable T20 experience and is capable of putting the opposition under pressure during the powerplay. His ability to attack pace as well as spin makes him an important part of the Kings’ batting plans.
2. Kamil Pooran
Kamil Pooran has emerged as one of Saint Lucia’s key batting options in the competition. He provides aggression at the top of the order and can shift gears quickly once he gets his eye in.
Pooran’s ability to score rapidly will be particularly important against a Patriots bowling attack that contains the likes of Naseem Shah, Obed McCoy and Waqar Salamkheil.
3. John Campbell
John Campbell is likely to occupy the No. 3 position after featuring in the Kings’ most recent XI. His role will be slightly different from the openers, as he can consolidate if an early wicket falls while still maintaining the required scoring rate.
4. Charith Asalanka
Charith Asalanka adds left-handed variety and international experience to the middle order. The Sri Lankan batter is particularly valuable against spin and can rotate the strike effectively before launching an assault in the middle overs.
His presence also gives Roston Chase an experienced partner in the middle of the innings.
5. Obus Pienaar
Obus Pienaar could retain his place in the XI after featuring against Trinbago Knight Riders. The South African-born all-round option provides flexibility with both bat and ball and gives the Kings additional depth.
With Saint Lucia likely to need contributions throughout the XI, Pienaar’s ability to perform multiple roles could prove useful.
6. Roston Chase (C)
Captain Roston Chase remains the central figure in the Kings’ setup. The West Indies all-rounder has developed into an increasingly influential T20 player and gives his side stability with the bat as well as an additional bowling option.
Chase’s leadership will also be crucial against the Patriots, particularly given the familiarity between the two teams after their earlier meeting this season. Current form indicators have him among Saint Lucia’s players to watch.
7. Matthew Forde
Matthew Forde is expected to retain his place as the primary pace-bowling all-rounder. He provides valuable lower-order hitting while also offering Chase an attacking option with the ball.
Forde’s ability to contribute in both departments makes him particularly important in a T20 side where balance is critical.
8. Amari Goodridge
Amari Goodridge could continue in the lower middle order. The young all-rounder gives the Kings another seam-bowling option and allows Chase to spread the workload across the attack.
His role could become particularly important if the pitch at Warner Park offers assistance to the pacers.
9. Joshua Bishop
Joshua Bishop has been one of the more useful bowling options for Saint Lucia this season. The all-rounder can provide control through the middle overs and has also been among the players highlighted for his current form.
His battle against the Patriots’ powerful middle order could have a major say in the match.
10. Maheesh Theekshana
Maheesh Theekshana should lead the spin attack. The Sri Lankan mystery spinner is capable of bowling effectively in the powerplay and middle overs, making him a difficult matchup for aggressive batters.
Against a Patriots batting lineup containing several explosive names, Theekshana’s ability to restrict boundaries will be vital.
11. Keon Gaston
Keon Gaston is likely to complete the bowling attack. The pacer featured in Saint Lucia’s most recent XI and could be tasked with handling the tougher overs around the powerplay and death.
His accuracy will be key, particularly against the Patriots’ dangerous hitters.
