OTD: Nearly 500 Runs in an ODI, England Rewrite the Limits of Scoring
June 19, 2018 remains one of the most extraordinary days in the history of One-Day International cricket. At Trent Bridge in Nottingham, England produced a batting performance that pushed the format to a place many had thought impossible, piling up 481 for 6 against Australia. At the time, it was the highest total ever recorded in men’s ODIs, surpassing England’s own world record of 444 for 3 made at the same venue against Pakistan two years earlier. The record has since been overtaken, but the scale of England’s domination that day remains remarkable.
