The highly anticipated Qualifier 2 clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will see Gujarat Titans (GT) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on May 29.

With a place to the final on the line, both teams will enter this do-or-die encounter under immense pressure. Gujarat Titans finished their group-stage at the second position in the points table. But, they faced a heavy defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in qualifier 1. So, they are coming into this encounter with a negative momentum.

RR, on the other hand, will be a highly confident side in this contest after their win over SRH in the eliminator.

Predicted Playing XI

Gujarat Titans (GT)

Top-order: Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill(c), Jos Buttler(wk)

Gujarat Titan’s top order has been one of the most consistent batting top-order in IPL 2026. Sai Sudharsan has enjoyed a sensational season at the top, scoring 652 runs at an average of 46.7. Captain Shubbam Gill too, is having a good season. He has so far scored 618 runs.

Jos Buttler, despite showing flashes of brilliance, has had a relatively inconsistent campaign by his standards. However, the English batter remains one of the most dangerous batters in world cricket and could prove decisive in a high-pressure knockout game.

Middle-order: Washington Sundar, Nishant Sindhu, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia (imp)

This is where it gets a little tricky for GT. Their middle-order lacks that big name, and lacks experience. Washington Sundar has been used in the middle-order this season. He has scored 311 runs so far with the bat. Nishant Sindhu is a youngster and will be eager to go out and show his talent. Jason Holder has been GT’s MVP since his inclusion in the playing XI, both with bat and ball. Rahul Tewatia will come in as an impact sub and had a good outing vs RCB.

Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Rashid Khan will lead GT’s spin bowling with his sharp spin. The Afghan spinner has picked up 19 wickets so far. He can also come in handy with the bat if required. Left-arm pacer Arshad Khan will be given an opportunity in this contest. Kagiso Rabada, Siraj, and Prasidh form a deadly trio, with the South African pacer leading the pack.

Gujarat Titans (GT) Predicted XI:

Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill(c), Jos Buttler(wk), Washington Sundar, Nishant Sindhu, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Impact Player: Rahul Tewatia

Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Top-order: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wk)

Rajasthan Royals’ top order has been the backbone of their campaign this season. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken IPL 2026 by storm, scoring 680 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 242, including a stunning knock vs SRH in the eliminator.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has provided excellent support at the top with 426 runs and will look to play another impactful knock in the knockout fixture. Dhruv Jurel is expected to bat at number three and continue his role as wicketkeeper. Jurel, too, had a good outing against Sunrisers.

Middle-order: Riyan Parag(c), Donovan Ferreira, Dasun Shanaka, Ravindra Jadeja

Captain Riyan Parag will once again shoulder the responsibility of stabilising the middle order. While the RR skipper has shown flashes of brilliance, consistency has remained a challenge throughout the tournament.

Donovan Ferreira has impressed with his aggressive finishing abilities and has scored 279 runs at a strike rate of 168. The South African batter remains an important player during the death overs. Ravindra Jadeja brings in a ton of experience, especially in the playoffs.

Shubham Dubey might come in as an impact sub, depending on the match situation. While Dasun Shanaka adds valuable all-round balance to the side.

Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja

Jofra Archer has been Rajasthan Royals’ standout bowler this season. The England speedster has picked up 24 wickets in 15 matches and has consistently troubled batters with his pace and accuracy. He was deadly against SRH.

Nandre Burger’s left-arm pace provides variety to RR’s bowling attack, while Yash Raj Punja has delivered useful performances whenever called upon.

Brijesh Sharma has also enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, claiming 13 wickets so far this season and emerging as one of RR’s most dependable bowling options.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) Predicted XI:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel(wk), Riyan Parag(c), Donovan Ferreira, Dasun Shanaka, Ravindra Jadeja, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja

Impact Player: Sushant Mishra/Shubham Dubey

Why Are SUS vs MID Vitality Blast 2026 Match 28 the Most Contrasting Sides in the South Group?

Middlesex sit at the bottom of the South Group with zero points and two defeats. Sussex are fourth with 2 points and one win, not the flying start their batting suggested, but still ahead of a Middlesex side without a victory. When they meet at Hove on May 30, both sides need a result. One is to avoid falling further behind a table that’s already separating contenders from the rest, the other simply to get off the mark before the campaign slips beyond saving.

What Does Middlesex Need to Fix to Beat Sussex in Vitality Blast 2026 Match 28 at Hove?

Middlesex need to fix one thing above everything else: a middle order that collapses the moment the top order is disturbed. Two games, two defeats, same pattern. Against Kent, they had a platform and lost it. Against Surrey, the innings was gone by the 11th over. Until that structural flaw is addressed, Hove against a confident Sussex side will produce the same result. Peter Fulton knows exactly what the problem is. The question is whether he has the personnel to solve it.

How Does Hove’s Pace-Friendly Surface Shape the SUS vs MID Vitality Blast 2026 Match 28?

Hove’s surface gives pace bowlers movement they can’t manufacture on flat county strips, and that shapes every tactical decision before a ball is bowled. The captain who wins the toss here almost always opts to bowl. But the data says that instinct is wrong. Batting first has become the stronger choice as average first innings scores have climbed toward 177–180 over the last two seasons. Whoever reads Hove correctly on May 30 holds a significant advantage before the first over is done.
