Jamaica Kingsmen will look to build on their first victory of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 when they face St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 10 of the tournament at Sabina Park, Kingston, on Tuesday, August 18. The Kingsmen finally opened their account with a thrilling five-wicket victory over defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders in their previous outing.
The new franchise had endured three consecutive defeats before producing a much-improved performance against Trinbago. Chasing 183, Jamaica raced home in just 18.4 overs, with Kirk McKenzie producing a spectacular 69 off 25 balls. Reeza Hendricks also contributed 37, while captain Rovman Powell and Andre Russell finished the chase with an important 48-run partnership.
With the Kingsmen finally finding their winning combination, they are unlikely to make major changes against the Patriots. Here is the predicted playing XI for Jamaica Kingsmen in Match 10 of CPL 2026.
Kirk McKenzie should continue opening the innings after his sensational performance against Trinbago Knight Riders.
The left-hander smashed 69 off just 25 deliveries, hitting six fours and six sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 276. His knock provided Jamaica with an explosive start and earned him the Player of the Match award.
McKenzie’s aggressive approach could once again be crucial against the Patriots, particularly during the powerplay.
Reeza Hendricks is likely to continue alongside McKenzie at the top of the order. The South African batter played an important supporting role in the previous game, scoring 37 off 29 balls.
His experience gives Jamaica stability at the top, while McKenzie can play the aggressor’s role. Their 93-run opening partnership against Trinbago laid the foundation for the successful chase.
Shayan Jahangir is expected to retain his place at No. 3. The wicketkeeper-batter did not have much impact against Trinbago, scoring only two runs from four deliveries, but Jamaica are unlikely to change a winning combination after just one low score.
His ability to contribute in the middle order and provide wicketkeeping cover makes him a useful part of the XI.
Keacy Carty should continue at No. 4 despite scoring only 11 in the previous match.
The West Indies batter has the technique to anchor the innings if Jamaica lose early wickets, while also possessing enough stroke-making ability to accelerate later. Against a Patriots attack featuring Jason Holder, Obed McCoy and Ashmead Nedd, Carty’s role could be particularly important.
Captain Rovman Powell is expected to retain his position in the middle order.
Powell remained unbeaten on 29 off 22 balls against Trinbago and played a key role in guiding the chase after Jamaica lost a few wickets in the middle overs. He also shared a 48-run fifth-wicket partnership with Andre Russell.
The Jamaica captain will be expected to provide another composed finishing effort against the Patriots.
Andre Russell remains one of Jamaica’s biggest match-winners and should continue at No. 6.
Russell contributed a quickfire 27 off 15 balls against Trinbago before being dismissed in the 18th over. He had also made an impact with the ball, claiming two wickets for 34 runs.
His ability to influence the game in both departments makes him indispensable to Jamaica’s combination.
Hassan Khan should retain his place as the team’s batting all-rounder.
The Pakistan-born all-rounder remained unbeaten on three against Trinbago and bowled an economical two-over spell for just five runs.
His ability to contribute with both bat and ball gives Powell useful flexibility, particularly if the Kingsmen want an additional bowling option.
Odean Smith is expected to continue as one of Jamaica’s pace-bowling all-rounders.
Smith bowled three overs against Trinbago and conceded 26 runs, although he did not pick up a wicket.
His power-hitting ability lower down the order also provides Jamaica with additional depth.
Keemo Paul should retain his place after playing an important role with the ball in the previous match.
He bowled three overs and picked up the wicket of Kieron Pollard, finishing with figures of 1/31.
Paul’s ability to bowl different lengths and variations makes him a valuable option during the middle and death overs.
Vitel Lawes is likely to continue as Jamaica’s spin-bowling option.
The young leg-spinner claimed the important wicket of Alex Hales in the previous game, finishing with one wicket from his four overs. However, he conceded 51 runs and will be keen to improve his economy against St Kitts and Nevis.
His variations could still prove useful on the Sabina Park surface.
Hunain Shah should complete the Jamaica Kingsmen XI.
The Pakistan fast bowler was particularly impressive against Trinbago, claiming two wickets for 31 runs in four overs. His wickets included Nicholas Pooran and Matthew Breetzke, two of the opposition’s dangerous batters.
His pace and ability to attack the stumps could make him a major threat against the Patriots’ top order.
Kirk McKenzie, Reeza Hendricks, Shayan Jahangir (wk), Keacy Carty, Rovman Powell (c), Andre Russell, Hassan Khan, Odean Smith, Keemo Paul, Vitel Lawes, Hunain Shah
