Siechem Madurai Panthers will look to maintain their perfect start to the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2026 when they take on Chepauk Super Gillies in Match 19 at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul on Friday, August 14. The evening fixture is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST.
Madurai have been one of the standout teams of the tournament so far, winning all four of their matches and sitting at the top of the points table. Their latest victory came against Dindigul Dragons, whom they defeated by 21 runs. On the other hand, Chepauk have also gathered momentum and will enter the contest after beating SKM Salem Spartans by five wickets.
With both teams in strong form, Madurai are unlikely to make wholesale changes to their winning combination. Their squad contains several promising players, including NS Chaturved, Rohan Bhutra, Deepesh Devendran, Gurjapneet Singh and Karthik Meiyappan.
1. Siddharth Mahadevan
Siddharth Mahadevan is likely to open the innings for Madurai. The young batter can provide an attacking option at the top and will be expected to make use of the fielding restrictions.
Against a Chepauk bowling attack that has several experienced options, Mahadevan’s ability to survive the early phase and find boundaries could be important.
2. NS Chaturved
NS Chaturved should continue at the top of the order and remains one of Madurai’s most important batters. He has been their leading run-scorer in the competition, accumulating 195 runs after the opening four matches.
Chaturved’s consistency has provided the Panthers with a reliable foundation. His ability to rotate the strike while attacking loose deliveries will be crucial against Chepauk.
If he can bat deep into the innings, Madurai will have a strong chance of posting a competitive total.
3. Atheeq Ur Rahman
Atheeq Ur Rahman could slot into the middle order at No. 3. The batting all-rounder provides Madurai with flexibility and can adapt his approach according to the match situation.
If the Panthers lose an early wicket, Atheeq could focus on rebuilding the innings. Alternatively, he has the stroke-making ability to increase the tempo if Chaturved manages to provide a strong start.
4. Balchander Anirudh
Balchander Anirudh is another experienced batting option who could feature in the middle order.
His role will be particularly important if Chepauk’s bowlers manage to make early breakthroughs. Madurai will need their middle order to prevent a collapse and ensure that the innings maintains momentum throughout.
5. P Vignesh
P Vignesh could provide valuable balance at No. 5. The bowling all-rounder gives captain Madurai another option with the ball while also adding depth to the batting lineup.
In a closely fought contest, his ability to contribute in both departments could prove valuable.
6. Rohan Bhutra
Rohan Bhutra should be one of Madurai’s key all-rounders. His ability to contribute with the bat and ball gives the Panthers considerable flexibility.
Bhutra has already made an impact during the tournament and was among Madurai’s leading wicket-takers in the early stages, with four wickets after their opening three matches.
His role could become particularly important during the middle overs, where he can either break partnerships or accelerate the scoring rate.
7. Shoaib Md Khan
Shoaib Md Khan could slot in at No. 7 as another batting all-rounder. His presence would give Madurai greater depth and allow the top order to play more aggressively.
With Chepauk possessing several dangerous batters, Shoaib’s contribution with the ball could also give the captain another option when match-ups become important.
8. Gurjapneet Singh
Gurjapneet Singh is likely to spearhead Madurai’s pace attack. The left-arm seamer provides variety and can be particularly effective against a predominantly right-handed batting lineup.
His ability to generate movement with the new ball could be important against Chepauk openers, while his variations can also come into play during the latter stages.
9. Deepesh Devendran
Deepesh Devendran should retain his place as one of the Panthers’ main bowling options. He had been Madurai’s leading wicket-taker after the first three games, with four wickets to his name.
He will be expected to bowl disciplined lines and attack the stumps rather than simply concentrating on containing the opposition.
10. Karthik Meiyappan
Karthik Meiyappan could be Madurai’s specialist spin option. His presence becomes particularly important at the NPR College Ground, where the average first-innings score has been around 159 in TNPL matches.
Meiyappan can use variations in pace and trajectory to put pressure on Chepauk’s middle order. His battle against players such as Narayan Jagadeesan could be one of the key contests of the match.
11. Ganeshan Periyaswamy
Ganeshan Periyaswamy could complete the XI as another pace-bowling option. His experience and ability to bowl during different phases of the innings give Madurai useful depth in their attack.
He could share the new-ball responsibilities with Gurjapneet before returning during the death overs.
