Amsterdam Flames will look to bounce back from their narrow defeat against Belfast Wolves when they take on Edinburgh Castle Rockers in Match 24 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026. The fixture is scheduled to be played at Malahide on September 13, with the match beginning at 10:30 AM local time.
The Flames have had an eventful campaign so far and possess one of the most experienced squads in the competition. Scott Edwards leads a side featuring Steven Smith, Tim David, Bas de Leede, Michael Bracewell and Curtis Campher. Their bowling attack has also shown plenty of variety, with David Payne, Jordan Neill, Tim Pringle and Aryan Dutt among the options.
Amsterdam’s most recent outing came against Belfast Wolves in Match 20, where they posted 141 before losing by five wickets. The Flames used Yuvraj Samra, Steven Smith, Bas de Leede, Tim David, Scott Edwards, Curtis Campher, Michael Bracewell, Tim Pringle, Jordan Neill, David Payne and Aryan Dutt.
With no obvious reason to make wholesale changes, the same combination could be retained against Edinburgh.
Here is the predicted Amsterdam Flames playing XI for Match 24 of ETPL 2026:
Yuvraj Samra is likely to continue opening the innings. The Canadian batter has regularly featured at the top of Amsterdam’s order and provides an aggressive left-handed option.
Samra’s ability to attack during the Powerplay will be important against an Edinburgh attack led by Trent Boult. The Flames will want him to make use of the fielding restrictions before the Rockers’ spinners enter the game.
Steven Smith should continue as Samra’s opening partner. The Australian brings enormous experience and can play the role of an innings-builder if Amsterdam lose an early wicket.
Smith’s ability to manipulate the field and rotate the strike could be particularly useful against Edinburgh’s spin-heavy attack, which includes Mitchell Santner and Mark Watt.
Bas de Leede is expected to retain the No. 3 position. The Netherlands all-rounder has been one of Amsterdam’s more dependable players and gives the batting order additional stability.
He can also contribute with the ball, allowing captain Scott Edwards to use him as a matchup option when required. His versatility remains one of the Flames’ biggest strengths.
Tim David should continue in the middle order. The Australian power-hitter is capable of changing the complexion of an innings within a few deliveries and will be crucial during the middle and death overs.
Against Edinburgh, David could be particularly important if the Flames need to accelerate after a steady start from Smith and de Leede.
Captain Scott Edwards is likely to occupy the No. 5 position while continuing behind the stumps. The Netherlands skipper provides valuable experience and acts as an important link between the top order and the finishers.
His leadership will also be tested against a strong Edinburgh side featuring several experienced international cricketers. Edwards will need to manage his bowlers carefully, particularly if the Rockers’ top order gets away during the Powerplay.
Curtis Campher should retain his place as the team’s seam-bowling all-rounder. The Irishman offers valuable flexibility because he can contribute with both bat and ball.
Campher’s ability to bowl a few overs also allows Edwards to avoid overworking his specialist bowlers. With Amsterdam likely to need wickets in the middle overs, his role could prove important.
Michael Bracewell is expected to follow Campher in the batting order. The New Zealand all-rounder gives Amsterdam another quality spin option and is capable of playing attacking strokes against both pace and spin.
Bracewell also claimed two wickets against Belfast in the Flames’ previous outing, underlining his value as a genuine two-dimensional player.
Tim Pringle should retain his place as another left-arm spin option. The Netherlands international can control the middle overs and force batters to take risks.
His four overs could be especially significant against Edinburgh’s aggressive middle order, which contains Brandon McMullen, Laurie Evans and Mitchell Santner.
Jordan Neill is likely to continue as one of Amsterdam’s specialist pace options. The Irish seamer picked up a wicket against Belfast and offers Edwards another option for breaking partnerships.
His ability to bowl hard lengths can be particularly useful against Edinburgh’s power-hitters, who will look to attack the shorter boundaries.
David Payne should retain his place in the pace attack. The experienced English left-arm seamer provides a different angle and can be particularly effective with the new ball.
He will have the important task of challenging Edinburgh’s openers, with Ross Adair likely to look for an aggressive start. Payne can also be trusted during the death overs because of his experience in T20 cricket.
Aryan Dutt is expected to complete the XI. The Netherlands off-spinner adds further variety to an attack already containing Pringle and Bracewell.
Dutt bowled his full four-over spell against Belfast and claimed one wicket, making him a useful option for Edwards during the middle overs.
Yuvraj Samra, Steven Smith, Bas de Leede, Tim David, Scott Edwards (C & WK), Curtis Campher, Michael Bracewell, Tim Pringle, Jordan Neill, David Payne, Aryan Dutt
