Dublin Guardians will face Amsterdam Flames in Match 26 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 at The Village, Malahide, on September 15. The contest is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM local time and will be an important fixture for the Guardians as they look to recover from a difficult run in the inaugural competition.
Dublin currently sit at the bottom of the ETPL standings with one win from eight matches, while Amsterdam have four wins from eight games. However, the Guardians have shown signs of improvement since the tournament moved to Malahide, beating Belfast Wolves by eight wickets before suffering a 12-run defeat against Edinburgh Castle Rockers and a six-wicket loss to Glasgow Cosmic.
The Guardians also possess plenty of experience in their squad, with Ravichandran Ashwin, James Vince, Daryl Mitchell, David Willey and Harry Tector among their key players. Their most recent XI featured Vijay Shankar, who smashed 67 off 43 balls against Glasgow, although the team eventually lost after posting 159.
Here is the predicted playing XI of Dublin Guardians against Amsterdam Flames:
James Vince should continue to open the innings for Dublin. The experienced English batter has been one of the team’s more dependable top-order options and has already demonstrated his ability to produce substantial scores in the competition.
Vince smashed an unbeaten 95 against Rotterdam Dockers earlier in the tournament, showcasing his ability to bat deep while maintaining a strong scoring rate. Against Amsterdam’s varied bowling attack, another positive start from him will be crucial.
David Willey is likely to partner Vince at the top. The left-handed all-rounder offers an aggressive option during the Powerplay and can also provide valuable overs with the ball.
Willey was instrumental in Dublin’s victory over Belfast, scoring 44 off 25 balls. He also contributed with two wickets in the same game, highlighting his all-round value.
Harry Tector should retain his place at No. 3. The Irish batter has shown flashes of his ability throughout the tournament and remains one of Dublin’s most technically sound options.
He top-scored with 75 against Glasgow Cosmic earlier in the competition and recently made 45 against Edinburgh. His ability to build an innings could be particularly important if Amsterdam strike early.
Muhammad Waseem is expected to feature in the middle order. The Pakistan-born UAE international is capable of playing attacking cricket and gives Dublin another player who can change the tempo quickly.
Waseem scored 20 off 15 balls in the previous game against Glasgow. Although he could not convert the start, his aggressive approach remains valuable in the Guardians’ batting lineup.
Vijay Shankar should retain his position after producing Dublin’s best individual batting performance in their previous outing.
The Indian all-rounder smashed 67 off 43 balls against Glasgow, striking six fours and three sixes. His innings kept Dublin in the contest despite regular wickets falling around him.
Shankar’s ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him a key component of the XI.
Benjamin Calitz is likely to continue as the wicketkeeper-batter. He provides an additional batting option while handling the gloves behind the stumps.
Calitz has not yet produced a major score in the competition, but Dublin are likely to retain him given the balance he provides to the side.
George Dockrell should occupy the No. 7 position as a spin-bowling all-rounder. The Irish veteran can provide valuable runs in the lower middle order and is an important option for Ashwin with the ball.
Dockrell also claimed a wicket against Glasgow, dismissing Finn Allen after four economical overs became difficult to maintain later in his spell.
Chris Greaves could retain his place as Dublin’s additional bowling option. The Scotland all-rounder brings leg-spin and lower-order batting ability to the side.
His contribution could become especially important against Amsterdam’s strong middle order, which includes Tim David, Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards.
Captain Ravichandran Ashwin remains one of Dublin’s most important players. The veteran off-spinner has been economical throughout the tournament and can be used strategically against Amsterdam’s aggressive batters.
Ashwin conceded only 17 runs in four overs against Glasgow and also dismissed Moises Henriques. His tactical experience will be crucial against an Amsterdam side coming off an eight-wicket victory over Edinburgh.
Matthew Hollard should continue as one of Dublin’s specialist pace options. He has been a regular member of the Guardians’ bowling attack and provides another seam option alongside Willey and Young.
Hollard will need to improve his control after conceding 51 runs against Glasgow, but the team could back him to respond strongly in the upcoming fixture.
Craig Young should complete the predicted XI. The Irish seamer was the hero of Dublin’s first victory in Malahide, producing a sensational five-wicket haul against Belfast.
His ability to generate movement and attack the stumps makes him a key weapon against Amsterdam’s dangerous top order.
James Vince, David Willey, Harry Tector, Muhammad Waseem, Vijay Shankar, Benjamin Calitz (WK), George Dockrell, Chris Greaves, Ravichandran Ashwin (C), Matthew Hollard, Craig Young
