Edinburgh Castle Rockers will look to carry their winning momentum into Match 14 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 when they take on Rotterdam Dockers at Sportpark Duivesteijn, Voorburg, on September 5. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM IST and promises to be a fascinating contest between two teams that have made strong starts to the inaugural season.
The Castle Rockers come into the fixture on the back of an emphatic 59-run victory over Belfast Wolves. JJ Smuts was the star with the bat, smashing 98 off 60 balls, while Tom Curran created history by registering the first hat-trick in ETPL history.
Edinburgh have now won two of their first three completed matches, while their other game ended without a result. They are expected to retain the majority of their winning combination against Rotterdam, particularly after several players produced impressive performances against Belfast.
Here is the predicted Edinburgh Castle Rockers playing XI for Match 14 against Rotterdam Dockers.
Ross Adair is expected to continue opening the innings after establishing himself as one of Edinburgh’s most aggressive top-order options.
The Ireland batter has shown an ability to attack from the outset and was part of the side’s successful combination against Belfast. His intent during the Powerplay will be crucial against a Rotterdam attack featuring Anrich Nortje and David Wiese.
JJ Smuts should partner Adair at the top. The South African all-rounder will enter the contest full of confidence after narrowly missing out on a century against Belfast.
Smuts smashed 98 from 60 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and three sixes. His innings provided Edinburgh with the platform to post a competitive total and earned him the Player of the Match award.
Andries Gous is likely to retain the wicketkeeping gloves and bat at No. 3.
The USA international has been one of Edinburgh’s dependable batting options during the early stages of the tournament. He scored an unbeaten 40 off 28 balls against Amsterdam Flames and has demonstrated the ability to accelerate once he gets his eye in.
Against Rotterdam’s experienced bowling unit, Gous could be asked to provide stability if Edinburgh lose an early wicket.
Brandon McMullen should continue in the middle order.
The Scotland all-rounder offers valuable flexibility to captain Mitchell Santner and can contribute with both bat and ball. McMullen played an important role during Edinburgh’s successful chase against Amsterdam, scoring 23 off 16 deliveries.
His ability to attack spin could also be useful against Rotterdam’s Roelof van der Merwe and Ben Manenti.
Laurie Evans is expected to retain his place at No. 5.
The experienced English batter gives Edinburgh another proven T20 player in the middle order. His role could become particularly important if Rotterdam’s new-ball attack manages to dismiss the openers early.
Evans also provides the Castle Rockers with the option of shifting gears quickly during the middle overs.
Captain Mitchell Santner remains one of Edinburgh’s most important players.
The New Zealand all-rounder has already demonstrated his quality with the ball, including a five-wicket haul earlier in the competition. He claimed 5/16 against Glasgow Cosmic and also picked up a wicket against Amsterdam.
Santner’s left-arm spin could be a major weapon against Rotterdam’s right-handed middle order. His experience will also be crucial when dealing with Faf du Plessis and Heinrich Klaasen.
Tom Curran is expected to retain his place after his historic performance against Belfast.
The England all-rounder became the first bowler to claim an ETPL hat-trick, putting the finishing touches on Edinburgh’s dominant victory.
Curran’s ability to contribute late-order runs and bowl during the middle and death overs makes him an invaluable part of the XI.
Gareth Delany should continue as another all-round option.
The Ireland international gives Santner flexibility with his leg-spin and can provide useful runs in the lower middle order. His presence means Edinburgh can maintain a strong balance even if one of their frontline bowlers has an off day.
Trent Boult will spearhead the bowling attack.
The New Zealand veteran has been exceptional in the tournament, taking seven wickets in two matches at an economy rate of 5.87. His best figures have been 5/24, making him one of the standout bowlers in ETPL 2026.
Mark Watt should operate as the second specialist spinner. The Scotland left-armer gives Santner another option for controlling the middle overs and could be particularly useful against Rotterdam’s aggressive batting lineup.
Jack Jarvis is likely to complete the bowling attack. The Scotland all-rounder adds another pace option and has already featured regularly in Edinburgh’s preferred combination.
Ross Adair, JJ Smuts, Andries Gous (WK), Brandon McMullen, Laurie Evans, Mitchell Santner (C), Tom Curran, Gareth Delany, Trent Boult, Mark Watt, Jack Jarvis
