Glasgow Cosmic will look to produce a much-improved performance when they take on Amsterdam Flames in Match 28 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026. The contest is scheduled to take place at The Village, Malahide, Dublin, on September 16.
Glasgow have endured an inconsistent campaign and will enter the fixture after suffering a 31-run defeat against Rotterdam Dockers in their previous outing. Rotterdam posted 172/4 in a rain-shortened 19-over game before restricting Glasgow to 141/9.
The Cosmic, however, have already shown that they possess enough firepower to challenge the stronger teams. They defeated Dublin Guardians by six wickets in their previous match before the Rotterdam defeat, chasing down 160 with seven balls to spare. Liam Livingstone, Finn Allen and George Munsey have all played important roles in their campaign.
With Amsterdam having beaten Glasgow by seven wickets in their previous meeting, the Cosmic will be desperate to reverse the result.
Here is the predicted Glasgow Cosmic XI against Amsterdam Flames:
Jason Roy is expected to open the innings and remains one of Glasgow’s most dangerous powerplay batters. The Englishman demonstrated his explosive capabilities against Belfast, smashing 54 off just 28 deliveries, including three fours and four sixes. His ability to attack the new ball will be crucial against Amsterdam’s pace attack.
Finn Allen should partner Roy at the top. The New Zealand power-hitter provides another aggressive option and can change the momentum of an innings within a few overs. His presence allows Glasgow to maintain an attacking approach from the first delivery.
Moises Henriques is expected to complete the XI as the final all-round option. The Australian brings experience in T20 cricket and can provide useful overs when Glasgow need a change of pace. His presence also gives Munsey an additional tactical option during the middle overs.
George Munsey is likely to continue as captain and occupy the No. 3 position. The Scotland international has been a regular presence at the top of Glasgow’s order and offers experience against high-quality bowling. Although he was dismissed for a duck against Belfast, he remains an important part of the side’s plans.
Liam Livingstone is expected to slot into the middle order. The English all-rounder has been one of Glasgow’s most productive performers and top-scored with 54 against Rotterdam earlier in the tournament. His ability to attack spin and provide useful overs gives Glasgow valuable balance.
Richie Berrington should retain his place in the middle order. The experienced Scotland batter can anchor the innings if early wickets fall while also possessing enough power to accelerate towards the death overs. His experience in Scottish cricket makes him an important player for Munsey.
Jimmy Neesham provides Glasgow with an important all-round option. He can contribute with aggressive lower-order batting and medium-pace bowling. Neesham scored 20 off 13 balls against Belfast and also picked up a wicket, highlighting his ability to influence both departments.
Matthew Cross is expected to continue as the wicketkeeper-batter. He provides stability in the lower middle order and is also an experienced gloveman. Cross scored 11 against Belfast and should retain his place behind the stumps.
Paul van Meekeren should lead Glasgow’s pace attack. The Netherlands international brings considerable T20 experience and can operate effectively during the powerplay as well as at the death. His ability to vary his pace will be important against Amsterdam’s dangerous batting unit.
Ali Khan is another specialist fast bowler likely to feature. The American pacer has the ability to generate pace and bounce and provides Glasgow with an attacking option in the early overs. He also took a wicket against Belfast in the rain-affected contest.
Lungisani Ngidi completes Glasgow’s pace trio. The South African quick can be particularly effective with his variations at the death. He picked up a wicket against Belfast and should continue to share the new-ball and death-overs responsibilities with van Meekeren and Khan.
