Guyana Amazon Warriors will return to action when they face Trinbago Knight Riders in Match 33 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence on Friday, September 11. The fixture is scheduled to begin at 7 PM local time.
The Warriors have enjoyed an excellent campaign and currently sit near the top of the CPL 2026 standings. They have also already beaten Trinbago this season, making this an important opportunity for the Knight Riders to respond. Guyana’s most recent outing saw them defeat Saint Lucia Kings by four wickets, with Imran Tahir starring with the ball.
With Guyana’s core combination looking settled, they are unlikely to make too many changes for the crucial home fixture.
Here is the predicted playing XI of Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 33 of CPL 2026:
Glenn Phillips is likely to open the innings for Guyana. The New Zealand all-rounder provides an explosive option at the top and can put the opposition under pressure during the powerplay.
Phillips’ ability to attack both pace and spin makes him particularly valuable against a Trinbago attack featuring Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein.
Mavendra Dindyal should continue as Phillips’ opening partner. The young Guyanese batter has been trusted at the top of the order and gives the Warriors a left-handed option alongside Phillips.
His ability to rotate the strike and accelerate once he settles will be important against Trinbago’s experienced bowling unit.
Shai Hope is expected to bat at No. 3 and continue behind the stumps. The West Indies international brings stability to what is otherwise an extremely aggressive top order.
Hope played a key role in Guyana’s recent win over Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, scoring an unbeaten 47 during a rapid chase. His ability to control the tempo of an innings could once again prove valuable.
Shimron Hetmyer remains one of Guyana’s most dangerous batting options. The left-hander has been in sensational form during CPL 2026 and has already produced a century against Trinbago earlier in the tournament. He was also among the team’s leading run-scorers before Match 30. His ability to clear the boundary against spin makes him a major threat in the middle overs.
Quentin Sampson should retain his place in the middle order. The breakout player has impressed with his fearless approach and gives Guyana another aggressive left-handed option.
His ability to accelerate late in the innings makes him an important component of the Warriors’ batting depth.
Romario Shepherd is likely to occupy the No. 6 position. The powerful all-rounder can change the game with the bat and remains one of Guyana’s most reliable death-bowling options.
Shepherd’s ability to hit sixes against pace will be particularly important if Guyana lose wickets during the middle overs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz could retain his place as the team’s spin-bowling all-rounder. The Bangladesh international adds variety to the attack with his off-spin while also providing useful batting depth.
He played a significant role against Saint Lucia Kings, claiming three wickets in the Warriors’ latest victory.
Dwaine Pretorius should continue as the seam-bowling all-rounder. His experience in T20 cricket makes him an important option during the middle and death overs.
Pretorius also provides Guyana with another lower-order hitter capable of finding boundaries when required.
Shamar Joseph is expected to spearhead the pace attack. The Guyanese fast bowler has been particularly impressive during the current campaign and can generate serious pace.
He was instrumental in Guyana’s victory over Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, leading a bowling attack that dismissed the Falcons for only 116.
Khary Pierre should continue as the specialist left-arm spinner. His accuracy and ability to keep the scoring rate under control make him an important weapon at the Providence Stadium.
With Trinbago boasting several dangerous right-handed batters, Pierre’s matchup against the Knight Riders’ middle order could be significant.
Veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir is likely to complete the XI and continue leading the Warriors. Tahir was named Player of the Match in Guyana’s latest victory over Saint Lucia after producing a superb bowling performance.
His experience in reading conditions and dismissing aggressive batters makes him a crucial part of Guyana’s attack.
Glenn Phillips, Mavendra Dindyal, Shai Hope (WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Quentin Sampson, Romario Shepherd, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Dwaine Pretorius, Shamar Joseph, Khary Pierre, Imran Tahir (C)
