Jamaica Kingsmen will be aiming to bounce back when they face Barbados Tridents in Match 34 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026. The contest is scheduled to take place at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, on September 13. The Kingsmen have already faced the Tridents once this season, suffering a narrow five-run defeat at Sabina Park despite strong contributions from Andre Russell, Keacy Carty and Vitel Lawes.
The Kingsmen, the newest franchise in CPL history, have a squad packed with experienced West Indies players and promising young talent. Rovman Powell leads the side, while Russell, Carty, Keemo Paul and Odean Smith provide considerable all-round ability. Their overseas contingent also gives the team several options in the top and middle order.
In their most recent available playing XI against Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica went with Maaz Sadaqat, Kirk McKenzie, Keacy Carty, Rovman Powell, Usman Khan, Hassan Khan, Keemo Paul, Odean Smith, Vitel Lawes, Jediah Blades and Hunain Shah.
Here is the predicted Jamaica Kingsmen playing XI for Match 34 of CPL 2026:
Maaz Sadaqat is likely to continue at the top of the order. The left-hander can provide an aggressive start while also contributing with his left-arm orthodox bowling when required.
His ability to contribute in both departments gives the Kingsmen additional flexibility, particularly if Powell wants to rotate his bowlers according to match-ups.
Kirk McKenzie should partner Sadaqat at the top. The young Jamaican batter has the ability to attack during the Powerplay and has already been given responsibility in the Kingsmen’s recent XI.
McKenzie will need to make better use of the fielding restrictions against a Barbados attack featuring experienced bowlers such as Daniel Sams, Chris Green and Gudakesh Motie.
Keacy Carty is expected to retain the No. 3 position. He was one of Jamaica’s standout performers in their previous meeting with Barbados, scoring 45 off 27 deliveries with one four and four sixes.
His ability to combine controlled strokeplay with boundary-hitting makes him a crucial link between the Kingsmen’s opening pair and their powerful middle order.
Captain Rovman Powell should continue at No. 4. The Jamaican is one of the most important players in the franchise and was among the three players selected by the new franchise as part of its initial domestic draft advantage.
Powell scored 38 off 24 balls in the earlier fixture against Barbados and will be eager to convert another start into a match-defining innings.
Usman Khan is likely to retain the wicketkeeping gloves and occupy the middle order. The Pakistan-born batter gives Jamaica another powerful option against both pace and spin.
His role could become particularly important if the Kingsmen lose wickets during the Powerplay, as he will be expected to rebuild before accelerating towards the back end.
Hassan Khan should continue as the team’s utility all-rounder. He provides a useful left-handed batting option and can contribute with the ball.
The Kingsmen will need players such as Hassan to make meaningful contributions because Barbados possess considerable depth across both departments.
Keemo Paul is expected to occupy the No. 7 slot. The West Indies all-rounder is one of Jamaica’s key seam-bowling options and can also provide useful lower-order runs.
His ability to bowl important overs makes him particularly valuable against a Barbados side packed with aggressive batters. Paul also bowled four overs in the previous meeting between the teams.
Odean Smith should retain his place as another seam-bowling all-rounder. His biggest value comes from his ability to clear the boundary and provide pace with the ball.
If Jamaica require a late-innings acceleration, Smith can be trusted to take on the bowlers. He also gives Powell another option for covering overs.
Vitel Lawes is likely to feature as the specialist spinner. The young left-arm wrist-spinner was one of Jamaica’s most impressive performers in their first meeting against Barbados, scoring a quick 32 off 20 balls.
His ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him an exciting component of the Kingsmen’s combination. On a surface where spin comes into play, Lawes could be particularly important.
Jediah Blades should lead the pace attack alongside the all-rounders. The left-arm seamer has the ability to generate movement and provide a different angle to Jamaica’s bowling unit.
He bowled two overs in the earlier match against Barbados and picked up the wicket of Zachary Carter.
Hunain Shah is expected to complete the XI. The young Pakistan fast bowler brings genuine pace and can be used during the Powerplay or death overs.
His ability to attack with short-pitched deliveries and yorkers could be useful against Barbados’ powerful batting unit.
Maaz Sadaqat, Kirk McKenzie, Keacy Carty, Rovman Powell (C), Usman Khan (WK), Hassan Khan, Keemo Paul, Odean Smith, Vitel Lawes, Jediah Blades, Hunain Shah
