Trinbago Knight Riders will be looking to continue their strong run in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 when they take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 33 at the Providence Stadium on Friday, September 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 PM local time, with both sides entering the contest with plenty at stake in the playoff race.
The Knight Riders possess one of the most experienced squads in the tournament, with Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard and Akeal Hosein forming the core of their side. Their squad also includes Justin Greaves, Dominic Drakes, Jyd Goolie, Terrance Hinds and several talented overseas additions.
Here is the predicted playing XI for Trinbago Knight Riders against Guyana Amazon Warriors:
Sunil Narine is likely to open the innings and provide the Knight Riders with an aggressive left-handed option. The veteran all-rounder can put pressure on the opposition during the powerplay while also giving the team four overs of mystery spin.
Against Guyana’s attack, Narine’s ability to score quickly and disrupt the bowling plans will be crucial.
Alex Hales could partner Narine at the top of the order. The experienced English batter is one of the most destructive T20 openers in the world and can take advantage of the field restrictions.
Hales’ ability to attack pace makes him particularly dangerous at the Providence Stadium, where a strong start could set up a sizeable total.
Nicholas Pooran should occupy the No. 3 position and remain the mainstay of the Knight Riders’ batting lineup. The left-hander is capable of taking apart both pace and spin and has a proven record in the CPL.
Pooran’s battle against Guyana’s spinners, particularly Imran Tahir and Khary Pierre, could be one of the defining contests of the match.
Colin Munro is another experienced left-hander who can provide immense power in the middle overs. He has the ability to target spin and clear the ropes regularly, making him an ideal No. 4 option.
In a recent meeting between the teams, Munro scored 38 while Pooran top-scored with 59 as Trinbago posted 147.
The Knight Riders will hope the pair can once again put pressure on Guyana’s bowlers.
Kieron Pollard is expected to captain the side and provide finishing power in the lower middle order. The veteran all-rounder remains one of the most experienced players in franchise cricket.
Pollard’s ability to strike sixes against pace and contribute a few overs gives Trinbago an additional dimension. His leadership will also be important against a Guyana side boasting considerable home advantage.
Justin Greaves should continue as a versatile middle-order all-rounder. The Barbadian can provide stability with the bat while also contributing with medium pace.
His ability to perform multiple roles gives the Knight Riders greater flexibility when deciding how to use their specialist bowlers.
Terrance Hinds could feature as another seam-bowling all-rounder. The Trinidadian offers power-hitting towards the back end of the innings and can provide useful overs.
If Trinbago lose several wickets in the middle overs, Hinds’ ability to accelerate quickly could prove valuable.
Akeal Hosein is expected to play as the specialist left-arm spinner. His accuracy and ability to bowl during the powerplay make him an important part of the Knight Riders’ attack.
Hosein could be particularly effective against Guyana’s right-handed batters, while his experience of playing at the Providence Stadium should help him assess the conditions.
Dominic Drakes should feature as one of the team’s main pace options. The left-arm seamer provides variety to the attack and can operate during both the powerplay and death overs.
His ability to bowl slower variations also makes him a useful option when defending a total.
Usman Tariq could provide another spin option alongside Narine and Hosein. His presence would allow Trinbago to attack Guyana’s middle order with spin from both ends.
With Providence potentially rewarding bowlers who can vary their pace, Tariq could play an important role in the middle overs.
Matthew Breetzke is another potential overseas option who could provide additional batting depth. The South African has the ability to play attacking cricket and can be promoted if Trinbago require extra impetus.
Given the quality of Guyana’s bowling attack, having an additional batter capable of accelerating could prove useful.
Sunil Narine, Alex Hales, Nicholas Pooran, Colin Munro, Kieron Pollard (C), Justin Greaves, Terrance Hinds, Akeal Hosein, Dominic Drakes, Usman Tariq, Matthew Breetzke
