The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) concluded on May 3, with Peshawar Zalmi lifting their second title after defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The tournament witnessed a run-fest, with batters dominating across venues and several players crossing the 300-run mark.
Leading the charts is Babar Azam, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, who once again proved why he is among the most consistent batters in T20 cricket. Babar amassed a staggering 588 runs in just 11 matches at an impressive average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 145.90. His ability to anchor innings while maintaining a healthy scoring rate stood out throughout the tournament. Notably, the veteran batter was the only player this season to score two centuries, along with three half-centuries. His performances at the top of the order laid the foundation for Zalmi’s successful campaign and eventual title win.
Close behind him is right-handed batter Kusal Mendis, another key contributor to Peshawar Zalmi’s triumph. The experienced Sri Lankan batter accumulated 550 runs in 11 matches, averaging 55 with a blistering strike rate of 168.19. Mendis played a vital role in the middle order, often accelerating the scoring rate and providing stability when needed. His tally included one century and four fifties, showcasing both consistency and explosiveness. His partnerships with Babar Azam were instrumental in powering Zalmi to multiple victories.
At number three is Fakhar Zaman of Lahore Qalandars. The left-handed opener scored 401 runs in just eight matches, maintaining an excellent average of 57.28 and a strike rate of 151.89. Fakhar’s aggressive approach at the top provided Lahore with strong starts, often putting pressure on opposition bowlers early in the innings. His campaign included one century and four fifties, underlining his ability to convert starts into impactful innings.
The wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan of Hyderabad Kingsmen occupies the fourth spot with 389 runs in 13 matches. With a remarkable strike rate of 162.76, Usman emerged as one of the most dangerous middle-order batters in the tournament. His performances were crucial in Hyderabad’s journey to the final, as he consistently delivered in high-pressure situations and guided the franchise calmly. The right-handed batter’s season featured one century and three fifties, highlighting his knack for stepping up when it mattered most.
Rounding off the list is Sahibzada Farhan from Multan Sultans. The opener scored 380 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 166.66, making him one of the most aggressive batters of the season. Farhan’s approach in the powerplay was particularly noteworthy, as he often took on bowlers from the outset and provided rapid starts to his team. His tally included one century and two fifties, reflecting his ability to dominate bowling attacks.
