The league stage of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 produced several outstanding bowling performances, with pacers and spinners making their mark across the Caribbean. After the completion of the league phase, Saint Lucia Kings pacer Matthew Forde finished at the top of the wicket-taking charts, followed by teammate Roston Chase and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons quick Alzarri Joseph.
Forde claimed 16 wickets, while Chase finished with 15 and Joseph took 14. With the playoffs now underway, all three bowlers will be expected to play crucial roles for their respective teams.
Here are the top 3 wicket-takers of CPL 2026 after the league stage.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons fast bowler Alzarri Joseph completes the top three with 14 wickets. The experienced West Indies quick has been one of the most consistent pace threats in the competition and finished two wickets behind Forde in the overall standings.
Joseph’s biggest strength remains his ability to generate pace and bounce. He can trouble batters with hard lengths and has enough variations to remain effective even when conditions are favourable for batting.
His most impressive performance of the league stage came against Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 30. Joseph returned outstanding figures of 4/41 as the Falcons bowled Guyana out for 117 before securing a comprehensive 65-run victory.
That spell demonstrated his ability to take wickets in clusters. Joseph’s experience at the international level also gives Antigua & Barbuda a proven option when they need a breakthrough or a bowler to handle pressure at the death.
The Falcons have secured a place in the playoffs, meaning Joseph still has opportunities to add to his 14-wicket tally.
Roston Chase finished just one wicket behind Forde with 15 scalps during the league stage. The Saint Lucia Kings all-rounder has once again demonstrated his value as a player capable of contributing in both departments.
Chase’s bowling has been particularly effective in the middle overs, where his off-spin can disrupt partnerships and force batters to take risks. His control also allows the captain to use him as a matchup bowler against specific batters.
One of his notable spells came against Trinbago Knight Riders in Match 17. Chase picked up 3/24 from his four overs, although Saint Lucia eventually lost the high-scoring encounter by 36 runs after Tim Seifert’s unbeaten 105.
He also produced another three-wicket spell against Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 31, finishing with 3/34. However, the Warriors chased down 120 to win the contest by four wickets.
Chase’s ability to contribute wickets without necessarily relying on outright pace has made him one of the most valuable bowlers in the tournament. His all-round role also gives Saint Lucia considerable tactical flexibility.
Matthew Forde emerged as the leading wicket-taker after the CPL 2026 league stage, finishing with an impressive 16 wickets for Saint Lucia Kings. His tally put him one wicket ahead of Roston Chase and two clear of Alzarri Joseph.
Forde’s campaign has been built around his ability to strike at important moments. The right-arm pacer has proved particularly effective when given responsibility with the new ball, while his variations have also made him a difficult bowler to attack during the later stages of an innings.
One of his standout performances came against Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the seventh match of the tournament. Forde returned figures of 4/29 as Saint Lucia Kings successfully defended a heavily reduced target in a rain-affected contest.
His wicket-taking consistency has been a major positive for the Kings. Although Saint Lucia did not enjoy the same success as some of the leading playoff contenders during the league stage, Forde’s performances provided them with a reliable strike weapon.
With the knockout phase now here, his ability to produce early breakthroughs could be crucial if Saint Lucia are to make a deep run.
