Trinbago Knight Riders will look to continue their strong start to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 when they take on Jamaica Kingsmen in Match 8 at Sabina Park, Kingston, on Saturday, August 15. The defending champions began their campaign with a victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and will aim to maintain that momentum against the new Jamaica franchise.
Trinbago have retained the core of the squad that helped them win their fifth CPL title last season. Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Akeal Hosein and Terrance Hinds form the backbone of the side, while overseas recruits such as Alex Hales, Colin Munro and Matthew Breetzke add further batting firepower.
With Match 8 coming relatively early in the tournament, TKR are unlikely to make too many changes to a combination that already delivered a win in their opening game.

Alex Hales is likely to open the innings and provide the explosive start that has become synonymous with his T20 career.
The experienced Englishman was among TKR’s leading performers in the previous CPL season and forms a formidable opening combination with Colin Munro. His ability to attack the new ball could be particularly important at Sabina Park.
Colin Munro should partner Hales at the top of the order. The left-hander’s power against pace makes him a dangerous proposition during the powerplay.
Munro’s experience of Caribbean conditions is another advantage, and TKR will expect him to put pressure on Jamaica’s seamers from the outset.
Captain Nicholas Pooran remains the most important batter in TKR’s lineup. The left-hander led the team with 426 runs in CPL 2025 and will once again be expected to anchor the middle order while providing explosive acceleration.
Pooran can also take over wicketkeeping duties, allowing TKR to accommodate another specialist batter or all-rounder in the XI.
His battle against Jamaica captain Rovman Powell could be one of the major talking points of the contest.
Matthew Breetzke is likely to slot into the middle order. The South African batter adds another aggressive option and can keep the scoring rate moving after the powerplay.
Breetzke also provides TKR with flexibility if the top three lose wickets early.
Kieron Pollard brings enormous experience to the middle and lower order. The veteran Trinidadian remains one of the franchise’s most trusted players in pressure situations.
Pollard’s ability to clear the boundary from the outset makes him particularly valuable during the final five overs. His experience can also prove useful when TKR are defending a total.
Justin Greaves should feature as an all-rounder. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball gives TKR valuable balance.
Greaves can provide important runs if the top order sets up a strong platform, while his medium pace gives captain Pooran another option when match-ups dictate a change in bowling.
Sunil Narine is almost certain to feature and could again be used aggressively with both bat and ball.
The veteran all-rounder remains one of the most difficult bowlers to attack in T20 cricket, while his ability to provide quick runs at the top or lower down the order gives TKR tactical flexibility.
Narine’s battle against Jamaica’s middle order could be crucial, particularly if the Sabina Park surface offers assistance to spin.
Akeal Hosein should partner Narine as the second specialist spin option. The Trinidadian left-arm spinner is particularly effective at controlling the middle overs and can make it difficult for batters to rotate the strike.
His accuracy will be important against Jamaica’s aggressive batters, including Powell and Andre Russell.
Dominic Drakes is expected to lead the pace attack. The left-arm seamer offers TKR a useful variation and can operate with the new ball as well as during the death overs.
