Match 34 | CPL 2026 | Kensington Oval, Bridgetown | 13 September 2026, 8:00 PM local
Quinton de Kock and Rovman Powell are the two batters everyone expects to matter most, but this match will likely turn on bowling, not batting. Jamaica need only a single win to reach ten points and all but confirm their playoff spot, while Barbados must win to keep alive a run that has already survived four straight defeats earlier this month. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Hunain Shah give both attacks a genuine matchwinner, and whichever spinner has the better night at Kensington Oval could decide who plays on.
Jamaica sit third with eight points from nine matches and just one game left to play, while Barbados are down in seventh on six points with three matches still to come. Guyana and Antigua have already sealed their playoff places, leaving two spots open among five chasing teams.
A win here takes Jamaica to ten points, a total considered close to a guarantee, while anything less leaves their fate tied to how St Lucia and Barbados finish. Barbados, needing to win all three of their remaining games to reach twelve points, arrive with the tougher and more urgent task.
De Kock has been the difference for Barbados all tournament, scoring a hundred against St Kitts and following it with two more useful contributions either side of that innings, including a match-winning forty-seven not out that snapped a four-game losing run. He now averages over forty-three with a strike rate above one sixty, comfortably the most dangerous top-order threat on either side.
Powell has carried Jamaica’s middle order without ever quite exploding, stringing together starts of twenty-one, forty-nine, twenty-nine and twenty-four across his last four innings. With the ball, Hunain Shah has been the tournament’s form spinner for Jamaica with twelve wickets, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman ended a rough patch for Barbados with three for twenty-two in the win over St Lucia.
| Player | Team | Key Stat |
| Quinton de Kock | Barbados Tridents | 260 runs, average 43.33 |
| Rovman Powell | Jamaica Kingsmen | 213 runs, leading run-scorer |
| Hunain Shah | Jamaica Kingsmen | 12 wickets, economy 7.91 |
| Mujeeb Ur Rahman | Barbados Tridents | 11 wickets, best 3/22 |
Contrasting Form Heading Into Match 34
Barbados have finally found some rhythm, breaking a four-match losing streak with an eight-wicket win over St Lucia in which De Kock’s unbeaten forty-seven did the early damage and Mujeeb’s three-wicket burst finished the job. Before that turnaround, they had lost four in a row, including being bowled out for one hundred and twenty-five against Trinbago.
Jamaica’s form has been streakier, alternating wins and losses across their last five matches. Their most recent outing ended in an eight-wicket defeat to Guyana despite Hassan Khan’s unbeaten sixty-two, a reminder that one big innings has not been enough to paper over their top-order fragility this season. Neither attack has managed to string together two dominant performances in a row, which makes current form a shaky guide for Saturday.
Jamaica Kingsmen only joined the CPL this year, so their entire history against Barbados is a single match from earlier this season, a five-run win for the Tridents back in Match 4. There is a defunct Jamaica Tallawahs franchise in the archives, but that history does not carry over to this new club.
That means Saturday is really the second data point in a rivalry that barely exists yet, and either result will double the available evidence for how these two sides match up. For Barbados, avenging nothing is at stake beyond the table, since this is simply the second time these badges have ever met on a cricket field.
Net run rate looms over everything Barbados do from here. Sitting at minus zero point six four five against Jamaica’s minus zero point zero nine six, Barbados cannot simply win; they need a wide enough margin to matter if a three-way tie develops with St Lucia later in the week.
A comfortable chase or a big total with overs to spare would do more for Barbados than a nervy last-ball finish, even if the result is identical on the table. That single number is exactly why the Barbados Tridents vs Jamaica Kingsmen CPL 2026 players who bat first will feel extra pressure to make every over count.
