OTD 1936 – Garry Sobers was born
Garry Sobers is arguably the finest all-rounder world cricket has ever seen. Apart from being a phenomenal left-handed batter, Sobers could bowl left-arm fast, slow left-arm orthodox, as well as left-arm wrist spin. He recently passed away at the age of 89 on July 17, 2026, in Saint Michael, Barbados. He would have turned 90 on July 28. It is a fitting time to reminisce about his contribution to world cricket, both on and off the field.
