The Guyana Amazon Warriors are predicted to win the toss and elect to bat first at Kensington Oval. Dew is likely to settle in during the second innings at this Barbados venue, making it trickier for spinners later, a key factor given GAW rely on Veerasammy Permaul. Batting first allows them to set a total and keep their bowling attack fresh and disciplined in drier conditions.
The Kensington Oval surface in Bridgetown generally offers a good batting track in the early overs, with the pitch flattening out as the game progresses. Pacers tend to get assistance with the new ball, particularly with some early movement off the surface. Spinners can come into play in the middle overs, though the conditions here more consistently favour batters chasing under the lights. In this ABF vs GAW fixture, expect an average first-innings total somewhere between 165 and 185, with the side batting second benefiting from any dew.
Bridgetown weather on September 17 is expected to be warm and humid, typical of Caribbean conditions in this period, with temperatures hovering around 28–30°C. There is a chance of light cloud cover, but no significant rain interruption is anticipated. Dew is the key weather factor for tonight’s qualifier, it is likely to arrive in the second half of the match, which could make the ball slippery and difficult to grip for spinners bowling in the final few overs. This dew effect could significantly influence tactical decisions around field settings and bowling changes.

Moeen Ali leads the Falcons with the composure of a seasoned campaigner. His ability to contribute both with the bat in the middle order and as an off-spin option gives the team balance that few captains offer at this level. Moeen’s tactical acumen will be crucial in a high-pressure qualifier where decisions at key moments can decide outcomes.
With Evin Lewis and Kusal Perera capable of explosive starts, the Falcons’ batting structure is built around top-order firepower. Karima Gore has been a notable performer, and this ABF vs GAW preview highlights his growing consistency as a dependable middle-order anchor. If Lewis fires at the top, the Falcons can push well beyond 170.
The bowling unit is anchored by Alzarri Joseph, whose pace and ability to take early wickets make him one of the most dangerous operators in this CPL edition. Shadab Khan is the all-rounder who knits the attack together, his 2/19 and quickfire 30* in the last encounter against these very opponents demonstrated exactly why he is the X-factor in this side.
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons Squad:
Moeen Ali, Fabian Allen, Rahkeem Cornwall, Karima Gore, Jahmar Hamilton, Hasan Nawaz, Joshua James, Amir Jangoo, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Anderson Mahase, Milind Kumar, Kusal Perera, Anderson Phillip, Tim Robinson, Jayden Seales, Shadab Khan, Shamar Springer, Sufyan Moqim, Tajinder Singh, Usama Mir
Imran Tahir captains the Warriors with the energy and enthusiasm that belies his years. A leg-spin legend, Tahir’s presence adds a psychological edge to the bowling attack, batters rarely feel comfortable against him in T20 conditions, especially when he finds grip. His leadership also brings experience in handling pressure knockouts.
Glenn Phillips at the top or middle order provides the Warriors with international-class firepower, while Shai Hope’s reliability at number three or four makes the GAW batting lineup one of the most structured in this CPL season. Shimron Hetmyer adds pyrotechnics, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz brings genuine all-round value as a batting reinforcement who can also control the middle overs with his off-spin.
With Veerasammy Permaul as their primary spinner and Romario Shepherd as a pace option, the bowling structure has good variety. The concern for GAW coming into today’s clash is their last-match implosion against Barbados Tridents, bowled out for 99, they will need a strong batting response to prove that was an aberration rather than a trend.
Guyana Amazon Warriors Squad:
Imran Tahir, Ronaldo Alimohamed, Mavendra Dindyal, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Shamar Joseph, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mohammad Haris, Matthew Nandu, Veerasammy Permaul, Glenn Phillips, Khary Pierre, Dwaine Pretorius, Quentin Sampson, Romario Shepherd, Isai Thorne, Jonathan van Lange
