The Delhi Capitals (DC) welcome an in-form Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on home soil in Match 51 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, May 8. Both teams come into the game on the back of contrasting forms.

The hosts suffered defeat in their most recent game against the Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. KKR, meanwhile, started the season slowly but are currently on a three-match winning streak, giving them an outside chance of qualifying for the playoffs.

Both sides have a plethora of superstars in their ranks, making it an exciting contest between bat and ball. The two teams, therefore, are expected to name an extremely strong playing XI, filled to the brim with some of T20 cricket’s biggest names.

Predicted Playing XI:

Delhi Capitals:

Top Order: Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Rana

DC’s top order has been excellent in this season’s IPL, even though sometimes a little inconsistent. KL Rahul is currently the tournament’s third-highest run-scorer with 445 runs at an average of almost 50 whilst striking at 181. Pathum Nissanka has been an adequate opening partner alongside Rahul, with Nitish Rana also coming back in form.

Middle Order:  Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (c)

The Capitals have a middle-order which is capable of playing according to the situation at hand instead of just attacking. Tristan Stubbs bats at a strike-rate of 136.70 and averages 51.40, meaning he stays on the crease for a long period of time. Sameer Rizvi, on the other hand, is scoring at 151.82 and has had a season to remember.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan.

Axar Patel’s batting form has been extremely underwhelming, scoring just 33 runs all season. However, he is currently his side’s leading wicket-taker with nine scalps to his name. The return of Mitchell Starc is a huge boost for DC, with the Australian taking three wickets from two matches. Lungi Ngidi and Starc are expected to bowl in tandem against KKR, with the seamer also back in full fitness after his freakish head injury.

Delhi Capital: Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Rana, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (C), Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan.

Impact Player: Karun Nair

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Top Order: Finn Allen, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (WK)

KKR called Finn Allen back into their playing XI against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he was at his destructive best. The New Zealander should keep his place at the top of the order alongside captain Ajinkya Rahane. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has cemented his place at number three despite the presence of Cameron Green in the team.

Middle Order: Rinku Singh, Cameron Green, Rovman Powell, Manish Pandey

Despite starting the season slowly, Cameron Green has found his feet in the IPL and scores at a strike-rate of 151.90. Rinku Singh has also returned to form and has scored 237 runs at an average of close to 60, being his side’s second-highest run-scorer behind the impressive Raghuvanshi. Manish Pandey did not get an opportunity to bat against SRH, but he should remain a part of the middle order, offering experience and stability.

Bowlers: Anukul Roy, Sunil Narine, Kartik Tyagi, Varun Chakaravarthy
KKR’s form is directly proportional to how well Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy bowl. The pair has 19 wickets between them, with the latter taking 10, whilst the West Indian spinner is bowling at an economy of just 6.80. Kartik Tyagi, however, is their leading wicket-taker, with 11 scalps to his name.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Finn Allen, Ajinkya Rahane (C), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (WK), Rinku Singh, Cameron Green, Rovman Powell, Manish Pandey, Anukul Roy, Sunil Narine, Kartik Tyagi, Varun Chakaravarthy.

Impact Player: Vaibhav Arora

Top 3 performances of Michael Bevan in international cricket

Born on May 8, 1970, in Belconnen in the Australian Capital Territory, Michael Gwyl Bevan became one of the defining cricketers of the ODI game long before “finisher” became fashionable cricket vocabulary. He did not arrive wrapped in theatre. There were no exaggerated flourishes to his batting, no grand declarations of intent. What he possessed instead was rare judgement. He understood tempo before limited-overs cricket fully understood itself.

OTD Cricket’s greatest finisher Michael Bevan was born

There was a time in one-day cricket when a chase never quite felt over if Michael Bevan was still there. Scores mattered, of course. Averages mattered too. But Bevan’s greatness lived in something harder to quantify. It was the feeling he gave Australia, and just as importantly their opponents, when a match drifted into chaos and he calmly began rebuilding it ball by ball.

Which Batter Destroys RR vs GT IPL 2026 Match 52: Sooryavanshi, Jaiswal, or Sudharsan

Three batters are carrying enough current form to make this match their own. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has scored 404 runs from 10 innings at a strike rate of 237.64. Yashasvi Jaiswal brings 312 runs at 159.18 alongside the structural intelligence that makes RR’s top order function as a unit rather than two isolated performers. Sai Sudharsan has accumulated 385 runs at 158.43 for GT, doing it quietly enough that opposition coaches study him last and regret it first.

What Malta’s Control-First XI Reveals About Malta vs Gibraltar 2026 Fifth T20I Plans

Malta arrives at the fifth T20I with a lineup built around what Marsa Sports Club consistently rewards rather than what looks strongest on paper. Mehboob Ali and Zeeshan Khan open with contrasting approaches designed for the powerplay’s early seam movement. Priyan Pushparajan anchors the middle order and the captaincy simultaneously. Two all-rounders extend both departments without specialist gaps. Every selection traces back to one principle: control phases rather than gamble on them.

What Makes Cyprus vs Finland 2026 Third T20I Playing XI Impossible for Finland to Read at Happy Valley

Cyprus arrive at the third T20I with a selection philosophy built entirely around what Happy Valley Ground demands rather than what looks impressive on paper. Alexander Senn leads a lineup that prioritises batting depth, multi-skill cricketers, and disciplined medium pace over specialist-heavy combinations. The venue has consistently rewarded teams batting first this season, which makes powerplay wicket preservation and all-round flexibility the two most important tactical variables in this fixture.
