Glasgow Cosmic will lock horns with Rotterdam Dockers in Match 9 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 at Sportpark Westvliet, Voorburg, on September 1. The Cosmics will enter the contest with renewed confidence after registering their first victory of the tournament against Dublin Guardians.
After losing their opening game against Edinburgh Castle Rockers by seven wickets, Glasgow bounced back in style against Dublin. They posted 183/5 before restricting the Guardians to 150, winning the contest by 33 runs. Jason Roy and Richie Berrington starred with the bat, while the team produced a much more disciplined bowling performance.
Rotterdam Dockers, meanwhile, have also made a promising start, winning one of their first two matches. The clash therefore promises to be an important early-season encounter as both teams look to strengthen their position in the points table.
Here is the predicted playing XI of Glasgow Cosmic for Match 9 against Rotterdam Dockers:
George Munsey is expected to continue opening the innings and leading the side.
The Scottish batter has not yet produced a major score in the tournament, but his experience at the top of the order makes him an important part of Glasgow’s plans. Munsey scored 18 off 20 balls against Dublin and will be looking to provide a faster start against Rotterdam.
With Jason Roy capable of attacking from the other end, Munsey’s role could be to rotate the strike while waiting for opportunities to accelerate.
Jason Roy should retain his place as Munsey’s opening partner.
The England opener finally showcased his destructive capabilities in Glasgow’s previous match, smashing 60 off just 37 balls against Dublin. His innings included eight fours and a six and provided the foundation for Glasgow’s imposing total.
Roy’s ability to dominate the Powerplay makes him one of the most dangerous batters in the Cosmic lineup. Rotterdam will be particularly keen to remove him early.
Liam Livingstone is likely to continue at No. 3.
The English all-rounder had a relatively quiet outing against Dublin, scoring only four runs, but his value to the team extends beyond batting. Livingstone can provide useful overs of spin and is also one of the most powerful hitters in the squad.
Glasgow will expect him to play a more influential role against Rotterdam.
Moises Henriques should retain his place in the middle order.
The Australian all-rounder offers experience and tactical flexibility. He can stabilise the innings if Glasgow lose early wickets and can also accelerate when the situation demands.
His ability to contribute with the ball gives captain Munsey another option during the middle overs.
Richie Berrington is likely to bat at No. 5.
The experienced Scotland international was one of the biggest reasons behind Glasgow’s victory over Dublin. He smashed 51 off just 27 balls, striking the ball at an extraordinary rate and hitting four sixes.
Berrington’s ability to finish an innings makes him a key component of Glasgow’s batting attack. If Roy provides another strong start, Berrington could once again be given the licence to attack.
Matthew Cross should continue as wicketkeeper and occupy the No. 6 position.
Cross played a useful unbeaten knock of 25 off 16 balls against Dublin and helped Glasgow finish strongly.
His ability to contribute quick runs lower down the order provides Glasgow with additional depth. Behind the stumps, his experience will also be valuable against Rotterdam’s aggressive batting lineup.
Michael Leask is expected to retain his place as the team’s all-round option.
The Scottish power-hitter can change the momentum of an innings with a handful of deliveries and also provides off-spin when required.
His ability to contribute in both departments allows Glasgow to maintain flexibility with their bowling combinations.
Keshav Maharaj should continue as Glasgow’s primary spin option.
The South African left-arm spinner was the standout bowler for Glasgow in their opening game against Edinburgh, taking 1/30 from four overs. He also contributed an unbeaten 29 with the bat in that match.
Maharaj’s control will be particularly important against Rotterdam’s powerful middle order. His experience could prove invaluable on a surface where variation in pace is likely to be useful.
Paul van Meekeren is likely to retain his spot in the pace attack.
The Netherlands seamer has the advantage of knowing the local conditions well and offers Glasgow a useful combination of pace and variations.
He also demonstrated his batting ability against Edinburgh, scoring an unbeaten eight off four deliveries, including a six.
His primary responsibility, however, will be to provide breakthroughs and execute his variations at the death.
Ali Khan should continue as one of Glasgow’s specialist fast bowlers.
The USA international brings genuine pace and aggression to the attack. He can be particularly effective with the new ball and has the ability to generate pressure through hard lengths.
Against Rotterdam’s strong top order, Khan will need to make early inroads and prevent the Dockers from establishing a strong Powerplay platform.
Lungi Ngidi is expected to complete the XI.
The South African pacer has already demonstrated his ability to pick up important wickets, claiming one against Edinburgh.
Ngidi’s experience in T20 cricket makes him one of Glasgow’s most important bowling resources. His variations and ability to bowl at different phases give Munsey a reliable option both with the new ball and at the death.
George Munsey (C), Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Moises Henriques, Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross (WK), Michael Leask, Keshav Maharaj, Paul van Meekeren, Ali Khan, Lungi Ngidi
