Amsterdam Flames will be desperate to turn their promising individual performances into a first victory when they face Dublin Guardians in Match 15 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 at Sportpark Duivesteijn, Voorburg, on September 5. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:15 PM local time (6:45 PM IST), with both teams entering the contest under pressure after difficult starts to their respective campaigns.
The Flames have endured two defeats and one no-result in their first three matches. Their most recent completed game ended in a nine-wicket defeat against Belfast Wolves after rain reduced the contest to just five overs per side. Before that, Amsterdam had suffered a five-wicket defeat against Rotterdam Dockers despite posting 157/8, with Bas de Leede producing an impressive 75.
There are, however, plenty of positives for Amsterdam. Steve Smith and Yuvraj Samra showed their ability to score quickly in the Powerplay against Belfast, while Tim David and Bas de Leede add considerable firepower to the middle order. The Flames also have a varied bowling attack featuring David Payne, Richard Gleeson, Kyle Klein and Aryan Dutt.
With Mitchell Marsh ruled out for the season, Amsterdam are likely to rely on their remaining overseas stars and a strong Dutch core. Here is the predicted Amsterdam Flames playing XI for Match 15 against Dublin Guardians.
Yuvraj Samra is expected to continue opening the innings after showing impressive intent against Belfast Wolves.
The Canadian batter scored an unbeaten 19 off 11 balls in the rain-shortened contest, striking at 172.73. He had earlier shown his ability to attack during the Powerplay and will be keen to convert his aggressive starts into a substantial innings.
Steve Smith should partner him at the top. The former Australian captain has brought considerable experience to Amsterdam’s batting unit and produced a rapid 20 off 10 balls against Belfast, including two sixes.
Smith’s ability to absorb pressure before accelerating makes him an ideal partner for the more aggressive Samra.
Bas de Leede should occupy the No. 3 position.
The Netherlands all-rounder has already demonstrated his importance to the Flames’ batting unit. He smashed 75 in Amsterdam’s opening game against Rotterdam, giving the side a strong platform despite ultimately losing the contest.
De Leede’s ability to contribute with the ball also gives captain Scott Edwards another tactical option. Against Dublin’s collection of right-handed batters, his medium pace could prove useful.
Tim David is expected to follow at No. 4.
The Australian power-hitter has been brought into the side to provide exactly what his reputation suggests — explosive middle-order batting. He struck a six against Belfast despite having only six deliveries to face before the rain interruption.
On a full 20-over innings, David could have a much greater role. If Amsterdam’s top order provides a platform, he will be expected to attack the spinners and pacers during the second half of the innings.
Curtis Campher should retain his place in the middle order.
The Ireland international adds valuable balance to the lineup and can contribute in both departments. His ability to bowl seam-up deliveries gives Amsterdam an additional option if one of their frontline bowlers has an expensive spell.
Campher’s batting could also become particularly important if the Flames lose wickets during the middle overs.
Captain Scott Edwards is likely to continue behind the stumps while batting at No. 6.
The Netherlands captain is one of the most experienced players in the Amsterdam squad and provides composure in the middle order. He can rotate the strike effectively and accelerate when the situation demands it.
His leadership will be tested against a Dublin side featuring experienced international players such as James Vince, Daryl Mitchell and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Michael Bracewell should slot in at No. 7.
The New Zealand all-rounder offers Amsterdam an important combination of power-hitting and off-spin. His ability to bowl in the middle overs gives Edwards flexibility when managing matchups.
Bracewell can also attack spin with his batting, making him an important option if Amsterdam need a late surge.
Tim Pringle should retain his position as one of Amsterdam’s specialist spin options. The left-arm spinner can control the run rate during the middle overs and is particularly valuable on surfaces that offer some assistance to slower bowlers.
Aryan Dutt is another key spin option. He already made an impact against Glasgow, taking a wicket in his solitary over while conceding eight runs.
Kyle Klein should spearhead the pace attack. The Netherlands seamer has the ability to extract movement with the new ball and has already been among Amsterdam’s more effective wicket-taking options.
David Payne is likely to complete the XI. The experienced English left-arm seamer provides variety and can operate during both the Powerplay and death overs.
Yuvraj Samra, Steve Smith, Bas de Leede, Tim David, Curtis Campher, Scott Edwards (C & WK), Michael Bracewell, Tim Pringle, Aryan Dutt, Kyle Klein, David Payne
