Match 10 | ETPL 2026 | Sportpark Westvliet, The Hague, Netherlands | 2 September 2026
Rotterdam’s pace attack has been the standout unit through the Netherlands leg, and Anrich Nortje is the single biggest reason why. Dublin counter with the tournament’s most economical bowler in Ravichandran Ashwin, but their fast bowling options haven’t matched Rotterdam’s strike rate through eight completed matches. On raw numbers, the visitors head into The Hague with the sharper attack, even if Dublin’s spin has kept them competitive in patches. Match 10 should settle which attack really has the edge.
Anrich Nortje’s return to red-and-white ball cricket has been the story of Rotterdam’s campaign so far. He picked up two wickets in the opening match against Amsterdam Flames, then produced a five-wicket haul against Belfast Wolves that included fifteen dot balls at an average speed of 142 kilometres per hour.
That spell was his first T20 five-wicket haul in 173 career matches, a stat that says plenty about how well he has adapted to conditions in the Netherlands. Across his two bowling appearances, Nortje has taken seven wickets at a combined economy of 4.63, comfortably the best figures on either side heading into Match 10.
Line the two attacks up side by side and the gap becomes obvious. Rotterdam’s spinners contributed early too, with Roelof van der Merwe taking two wickets at an economy of 5.25 in the tournament opener, while David Wiese has chipped in with two more from a single completed match.
| Bowler | Team | Economy | Wickets |
| Anrich Nortje | Rotterdam | 4.63 | 7 |
| Roelof van der Merwe | Rotterdam | 5.38 | 2 |
| David Wiese | Rotterdam | 9.60 | 3 |
| R Ashwin | Dublin | 16.50 | 1 |
| George Dockrell | Dublin | 14.50 | 0 |
| Chris Wood | Dublin | 16.75 | 3 |
| Joshua Little | Dublin | 18.75 | 2 |
Every single Dublin bowler is being hit at an economy above 14, while three of Rotterdam’s four used bowlers sit under 10. That gap alone explains why Dublin have lost all three of their completed matches this tournament, conceding 184, 183 and 110 for 6 in turn.
Ravichandran Ashwin remains Dublin’s most reliable option even inside a losing team. He holds the lowest economy rate of any bowler in the entire tournament and took a wicket in Dublin’s opening match against Belfast Wolves while conceding just 23 runs from his four overs.
Chris Wood provided the closest thing to a genuine breakthrough spell, taking three wickets against Belfast in that same match, though at a considerably higher cost per over. George Dockrell backed that up with three for 27 against Edinburgh, his best figures of the competition so far and Dublin’s most economical spell outside of Ashwin’s own numbers.
Sportpark Westvliet has offered good pace and carry with the new ball before slowing for cutters and spinners through the middle overs, based on the tournament so far. Three completed matches at the ground have produced an average first-innings score of 152, with the chasing side winning two of them.
That trend favours whichever attack lands its fast bowlers in the right areas early, which is exactly where Rotterdam has the advantage on paper. Nortje’s average speed of 142 kilometres per hour in his five-wicket haul suggests he is built for exactly these conditions, while Dublin’s pace options have struggled to find similar zip.
Edinburgh Castle Rockers and Belfast Wolves currently sit atop the table with roughly five points apiece from two wins and a no result each. Rotterdam sit third with three points from their solitary win and the no result against Belfast, giving them real reason to chase a statement performance here.
Dublin remain bottom without a single point from three matches, having conceded totals of 184, 183 and 110 for 6 in defeats to Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively. A win at Westvliet wouldn’t just be their first of the competition; it would also be the first real evidence their bowling can hold up against a genuinely dangerous batting lineup.
Glasgow Cosmic play Rotterdam the day before this fixture, which means Rotterdam’s position could shift again before a ball is even bowled at Westvliet. Either way, the Dublin Guardians vs Rotterdam Dockers ETPL 2026 bowlers question looks settled on paper, and Match 10 exists mainly to confirm it.
