Eastern Storm vs SA Emerging | T20 Challenge 2026 | Willowmoore Park, Benoni | 25 October 2026
Jurie Snyman and Markus Bakker are the bowlers to watch when Eastern Storm meet SA Emerging at Willowmoore Park on October 25. Snyman took 4 for 16 against the Knights, while Bakker has collected five wickets in eight overs. Both sides arrive short of confidence, Storm with one win in five and SA Emerging with none. Lekhoana and Tongo, steady last time out, give each attack a second option, and the early overs with the new ball could decide a tight contest in Benoni.
Form makes grim reading for both camps. Eastern Storm have won one of their last five, beating the Knights by 18 runs, and lost the other four. Those defeats came against KZN Inland by five wickets, the Titans by 99 runs and Western Province by nine wickets, while a tie with Boland ended in a Super Over loss, which shows how thin the margins have been for them.
SA Emerging have it harder still, with five defeats from five. They lost to Mpumalanga by five wickets, the Knights by 54 runs, Boland by three wickets, the Titans by eight wickets and Western Province by six wickets. Several margins were narrow, so a couple of good overs from either attack can shape the result. No win has arrived yet to give the group a template.
Snyman is the standout name in the Storm attack after his 4 for 16 against the Knights on October 14. He leaked runs in the October 22 loss to KZN Inland, finishing with 1 for 31 from three overs. Mhlanga also took two wickets in that win over the Knights, which makes the pair a useful new-ball threat. Between them, they give Storm two wicket-takers who have both delivered recently.
Lekhoana was the best of the October 22 attack, with 2 for 24 at an economy of 6.00. Classen matched that economy with 1 for 24, and Simelane took 1 for 15 at 7.50 an over. Tournament totals for the group are not available, so recent matches are the guide.
Bakker has five wickets from eight overs for SA Emerging, the best return in their ranks. Rowles has two wickets and Mkhize one, so the support cast is light, and one off day would expose the attack. Four of Bakker’s wickets came against the Knights, a game his side still lost by 54 runs.
On October 22 against Mpumalanga, Bakker took 1 for 25, Mouton 1 for 30 and Tongo 1 for 28, which shows how evenly the load was shared. Powerplay and death-over splits for either side are not available. That leaves economy and wicket-taking in recent games as the only guide.
| Bowler | Team | Economy | Wickets |
| Thabiso Lekhoana | Eastern Storm | 6.00 | 2 |
| Chad Classen | Eastern Storm | 6.00 | 1 |
| Tumelo Simelane | Eastern Storm | 7.50 | 1 |
| Jurie Snyman | Eastern Storm | 10.33 | 1 |
| Markus Bakker | SA Emerging | 6.25 | 1 |
| Ayabonga Tongo | SA Emerging | 7.00 | 1 |
| Conrad Mouton | SA Emerging | 7.50 | 1 |
| Zakwan Patel | SA Emerging | 8.67 | 1 |
A match at Willowmoore Park on October 22 produced 149 for 9 in the first innings, and the reply closed on 150 for 5. A typical T20 total sits between 150 and 165, so both scores landed at or just under the bottom of that band. One match is a small sample, but it is the freshest evidence on offer.
Scores from earlier games at the ground and the tournament averages are not available, so one result is a thin base. Even so, a pitch that held totals near 150 rewards bowlers who find the stumps early. Snyman and Bakker both fit that description.
Recent T20 meetings between the two sides have not turned up. Their older one-day record points one way, with SA Emerging winning by 230 runs in 2023/24. That margin is huge, though it came in a different format.
With no recent head-to-head and both teams struggling, the bowling duel decides the Eastern Storm vs SA Emerging T20 Challenge 2026 match. Snyman, Lekhoana, Bakker and Tongo are the four to track from the first over. Expect the side that strikes early to take control at Benoni, because neither team has found a way to win regularly.
