The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 will witness another exciting contest when the Jamaica Kingsmen take on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 18 at Warner Park, Basseterre. The fixture is scheduled for August 27 and will see two sides with contrasting recent results renew their rivalry.

Jamaica Kingsmen have already defeated the Patriots once in CPL 2026, registering a convincing 51-run victory at Sabina Park. They posted 181/6 before bowling out the Patriots for 130. Keemo Paul was the standout performer, smashing 65 off 36 balls before returning figures of 3/30. Rovman Powell also made a valuable contribution with 49 off 39 deliveries.

The Patriots will therefore be keen to turn the tables on their home ground. Their batting unit possesses plenty of experience, with players such as Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers, Andre Fletcher and Jason Holder capable of producing match-winning performances.

With another fascinating encounter in store, here are the top three batters to watch out for in Match 18 of CPL 2026 between Jamaica Kingsmen and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

1. Keemo Paul – Jamaica Kingsmen

Keemo Paul is an obvious choice following his sensational performance in the previous meeting between these two teams.

The Jamaican all-rounder produced a match-winning display at Sabina Park, scoring a blistering 65 off just 36 deliveries. His innings featured five fours and five sixes, giving him a remarkable strike rate of 180.55. He also followed it up with three wickets for 30 runs to earn the Player of the Match award.

Paul’s ability to accelerate during the middle and death overs makes him a particularly dangerous batter for the Patriots. He does not need a long period to settle before launching an attack, and his clean striking can quickly change the momentum of an innings.

His partnership with Rovman Powell was particularly important in the previous encounter. Jamaica were reduced to 54/4 before Powell and Paul rebuilt the innings and helped the Kingsmen post a competitive 181/6.

The Patriots will be aware of the threat Paul poses and could look to attack him with their best spin options. Wanindu Hasaranga and Waqar Salamkheil, if selected, could be used to restrict his scoring areas.

However, after his outstanding performance against the same opposition, Paul will enter Match 18 with plenty of confidence.

2. Rovman Powell – Jamaica Kingsmen

Jamaica captain Rovman Powell is another batter who could have a major influence on the contest.

Powell played an excellent innings in the previous clash, scoring 49 off 39 balls. His knock included four fours and three sixes and provided the stability Jamaica needed after losing wickets at regular intervals.

The right-hander is particularly dangerous when he gets an opportunity to attack spin. His ability to hit straight and target the leg side makes him difficult to contain once he reaches the latter stages of an innings.

Powell also has the advantage of extensive experience in Caribbean conditions. As captain, he understands the importance of pacing an innings according to the surface rather than simply attempting to attack every delivery.

His partnership with Paul was the turning point in Jamaica’s previous win over the Patriots. Powell will again be expected to anchor the middle order while allowing the likes of Andre Russell and Keemo Paul to attack around him.

The Patriots’ bowling attack will therefore need to find a way to dismiss Powell before he reaches the death overs. If he remains at the crease alongside Russell or Paul, Jamaica could once again finish with a formidable total.

3. Kyle Mayers – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The third batter to watch is St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ Kyle Mayers.

Mayers is one of the most destructive left-handed batters in Caribbean cricket and can change the complexion of a T20 innings during the powerplay. His ability to hit fast bowlers over the infield makes him an important player for the Patriots, particularly if they are chasing a sizeable target.

The all-rounder has already shown his ability to score quickly in CPL 2026. In the Patriots’ earlier victory over Saint Lucia Kings, Mayers smashed 32 from just 16 deliveries, providing the acceleration required during the chase.

His previous outing against Jamaica, however, did not produce the desired result, as the Patriots were bowled out for only 130. The Patriots will need a much better start from their top order in the return fixture.

Mayers could be particularly important against Jamaica’s pace attack. The Kingsmen have several bowling options, including Andre Russell, Keemo Paul and Odean Smith, while Hunain Shah can provide additional pace.

If Mayers survives the opening spell, he has the power to put Jamaica under pressure quickly. His left-handed presence also gives the Patriots an opportunity to disrupt the opposition’s bowling plans and force Powell to make early tactical changes.

The Patriots will hope Mayers can combine with experienced openers such as Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles to provide a strong platform.
