Hand-picked stories you can't miss
Arshdeep Singh has dismissed Mitchell Marsh twice in IPL, both times for zero. Marsh has since scored 563 runs this season and posted 111 off 56 at the very ground where Arshdeep sent him packing in the first over last year. One man is the competition’s leading run-scorer. The other is the bowler who has found his edge twice already. Match 68 at Ekana opens with this contest, and whoever wins it shapes everything that follows.
Arshdeep dismissed Marsh at Ekana on April 1, 2025. First over. Back-of-length delivery, sharp rise, top edge, Marco Jansen completed the catch at mid-on. Marsh had scored back-to-back fifties heading into that match. It didn’t matter.
Six weeks later, at Dharamsala on May 4, 2025, Arshdeep dismissed him again for zero. That spell finished at 3/16. PBKS won by 37 runs. Two dismissals in the same IPL season, both for ducks. That’s not fortune, that’s a method working against a specific weakness.
Marsh’s tendency early in his innings is to play across the line. Before his timing clicks, left-arm swing angling into his body creates a problem he hasn’t consistently solved. Arshdeep’s back-of-length angle is exactly that delivery.
Marsh has shown he can destroy pace bowling once set. He smashed Mitchell Starc for 21 runs in a single over during the 2025 season. The difference is timing. The first ten balls are where Arshdeep hunts, and Marsh’s record shows he isn’t immune there, regardless of the form he carries in.

Arshdeep is also the first PBKS bowler to reach 100 IPL career wickets.
The two ducks didn’t break him at this ground. On May 7, 2026, Marsh hit 111 off 56 balls against RCB at Ekana, the fastest century by any LSG batter in IPL history. Eight days later, against CSK at the same venue, he scored 90 off 38 and won Player of the Match.
His Ekana record now reads: 0, 0, 111, 90. Two failures, then two of the most destructive innings of his IPL career. The form he arrives with for Match 68 is the best of his career. Arshdeep’s record against him is also the best it’s been. Something has to give.
PBKS need wins to stay in playoff contention. LSG is already eliminated. The stakes aren’t equal, but the individual contest is. Arshdeep leads PBKS’s wicket charts with 14 scalps from 13 matches. Marsh leads the entire IPL 2026 run charts with 563 runs. Both are operating at the top of their game.
If Marsh goes early, LSG’s middle order faces PBKS’s full bowling unit without their anchor. If Marsh survives the powerplay, he’s shown at this ground exactly what he does next. PBKS’s entire game plan for Match 68 is built around solving that question in the first four overs.
