Jayasuriya also captained Sri Lanka between 1999 and 2003 and led the team to a shared Champions Trophy title in 2002. Even after retiring from Tests in 2007, he continued to excel in white-ball cricket and produced memorable performances, including a prolific 2008 season that reaffirmed his enduring quality.
