The battle between James Vince and Fred Klaassen could set the tone for the match.

His ability to dominate the powerplay through timing and placement makes him a crucial player for the Guardians.

Klaassen’s angle across the right-handed Vince could make this a fascinating contest. Vince prefers to play through the off side and relies heavily on timing, meaning the Belfast seamer could look to attack his outside edge with deliveries that move away.
For Dublin, Vince’s priority will be to survive the initial examination before using his range of strokes once the ball gets older. If he gets through Klaassen’s opening spell, he could once again become the backbone of the Guardians’ innings.
Whenever Glenn Maxwell and Ravichandran Ashwin face each other, there is plenty of tactical intrigue involved.
Maxwell was the difference-maker when these teams met previously. Coming in after Belfast had slipped to 68/4, the Australian all-rounder launched a counterattack and scored 60 off 38 balls. His partnership of 84 with Chapman completely changed the complexion of the innings and helped the Wolves reach 184/7.

That makes Maxwell versus Ashwin a crucial middle-overs battle.
Ashwin will know that Maxwell thrives when bowlers give him pace and room to free his arms. The Indian spinner could therefore vary his trajectory, pace and angles to prevent Maxwell from settling into his preferred hitting zones.
Maxwell, on the other hand, will be keen to disrupt Ashwin’s rhythm. Sweeps, reverse sweeps and calculated attacks down the ground could be part of his strategy.
If Ashwin wins this contest, Dublin could restrict Belfast’s middle-order acceleration. But if Maxwell gets the better of him, the Wolves could once again produce a huge finish.
The third battle to watch out for will be between Belfast’s experienced opener Paul Stirling and Dublin’s left-arm quick Josh Little.
Stirling remains one of the most dangerous powerplay batters in the Belfast lineup. In the first meeting between these teams, he scored 31 off just 21 deliveries, smashing six boundaries before Little eventually dismissed him.
Little, meanwhile, finished that game with 2/42 and was responsible for removing both Stirling and Lorcan Tucker during Belfast’s early wobble. His ability to generate pace from a left-arm angle makes him particularly useful against aggressive right-handed openers.
The conditions at Malahide could make this battle even more interesting. If there is movement available early on, Little will have an opportunity to challenge Stirling’s aggressive intent with deliveries aimed at the stumps and across the right-hander.
Stirling, however, has enough experience to know when to attack and when to take the safer option. If he can get through Little’s opening spell, Belfast will have a much stronger platform from which to launch their innings.
For Dublin, dismissing Stirling early could prevent Belfast from getting the kind of start that allows their formidable middle order to dictate terms.
