Amsterdam Flames will take on Glasgow Cosmic in Match 12 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 at Sportpark Westvliet, Voorburg, on September 3. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:15 PM local time (6:45 PM IST). The fixture will be an important one for the Flames, who are still searching for their first victory of the inaugural ETPL campaign.
Amsterdam began their campaign with a five-wicket defeat against Rotterdam Dockers despite posting 157/8, with Bas de Leede producing an excellent 75 off 53 balls. Their second match against Edinburgh Castle Rockers ended without a result, while Belfast Wolves defeated them by nine wickets in a rain-shortened five-over contest.
The Flames have, however, shown enough promise to suggest that a turnaround could be around the corner. De Leede has emerged as a key performer, while Yuvraj Samra and Steve Smith have also shown flashes of their attacking ability. With Mitchell Marsh ruled out for the season, Scott Edwards continues to lead the side.
Glasgow Cosmic, meanwhile, enter the contest with momentum after defeating Dublin Guardians by 33 runs in Match 5. They also defeated Edinburgh in their opening fixture before suffering a seven-wicket loss.
Here is the predicted playing XI of Amsterdam Flames for Match 12 against Glasgow Cosmic:
Yuvraj Samra is expected to open the innings.
The Canadian batter has shown an aggressive approach at the top of the order and is capable of taking advantage of the fielding restrictions. He remained unbeaten on 19 off 11 balls against Belfast in the rain-shortened game, demonstrating his ability to score quickly.
Samra will need to provide a stronger platform against Glasgow’s varied bowling attack.
Max O’Dowd should partner Samra at the top.
The Netherlands batter made a brisk 25 off 15 deliveries in Amsterdam’s opening match, including four boundaries.
His experience in Dutch conditions makes him an important player for the Flames, particularly during the Powerplay.
Steve Smith is likely to bat at No. 3.
The former Australia batter missed the tournament opener but has since joined the Flames and featured against Belfast. He made 20 off 10 balls in that five-over contest, striking two sixes.
Smith’s experience could be invaluable against Glasgow’s international-quality bowling unit.
Bas de Leede should continue at No. 4 and remains Amsterdam’s most important batter.
The Netherlands all-rounder produced the standout innings of the Flames’ campaign so far, scoring 75 off 53 balls against Rotterdam. His knock contained seven fours and two sixes and almost single-handedly lifted Amsterdam to 157/8.
De Leede will again be expected to anchor the innings while maintaining the ability to accelerate.
Captain Scott Edwards should retain his place behind the stumps and bat at No. 5.
Edwards has considerable experience leading the Netherlands and provides stability in the middle order. He scored 17 off 14 balls in the opening match and contributed to Amsterdam’s recovery alongside de Leede.
His leadership will also be tested against a powerful Glasgow batting lineup.
Tim David is expected to occupy the No. 6 position.
The Australian power-hitter gives Amsterdam an explosive finishing option. He has yet to make a significant contribution with the bat, scoring only one run in the opening match before making a brief appearance against Belfast.
However, his ability to clear the boundary from the outset means Glasgow cannot afford to underestimate him.
Curtis Campher should retain his place as the team’s seam-bowling all-rounder.
The Ireland international scored 17 off 20 balls in the opener and can provide useful overs with the ball.
His versatility gives Edwards greater flexibility when managing the bowling attack.
Michael Bracewell is likely to feature at No. 8.
The New Zealand all-rounder provides both batting depth and off-spin. Although he scored only one run against Rotterdam, his ability to contribute in multiple departments makes him an important part of the Flames’ combination.
Bracewell could be particularly useful against Glasgow’s aggressive right-handed batters.
Aryan Dutt is expected to feature as one of Amsterdam’s specialist spinners.
The Netherlands off-spinner can operate during the middle overs and is capable of restricting the scoring rate. He also impressed against Belfast, taking one wicket in the rain-shortened match.
His ability to bowl economically could be crucial against Glasgow’s powerful middle order.
David Payne should lead the pace attack.
The experienced English left-arm seamer offers movement with the new ball and variations at the death. He was part of the Flames’ bowling unit against Belfast and will have a major role to play against Glasgow.
Payne’s ability to attack the stumps could be important against Glasgow’s dangerous opening pair.
Richard Gleeson could complete the XI.
The England seamer provides additional pace and experience to the bowling attack. He picked up one wicket in the opening game against Rotterdam and can operate in both the Powerplay and death overs.
His experience will be valuable against batters such as Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy.
Yuvraj Samra, Max O’Dowd, Steve Smith, Bas de Leede, Scott Edwards (C & WK), Tim David, Curtis Campher, Michael Bracewell, Aryan Dutt, David Payne, Richard Gleeson
