Antigua and Barbuda Falcons will lock horns with Trinbago Knight Riders in Match 24 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad, on September 2. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM local time, with the action starting at 4:30 AM IST on September 3.
The Falcons will enter the contest with confidence after defeating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by three wickets and then beating Barbados Tridents by 30 runs. The latter victory was particularly impressive as captain Moeen Ali produced a match-winning unbeaten 56 off 37 balls to help his team recover from 80/5 and post 155/5.
Antigua also defeated Trinbago by five wickets in their previous meeting this season. Shadab Khan’s unbeaten 52 off just 20 balls played a starring role as the Falcons chased down 166 with nine balls to spare.
With momentum on their side, Moeen is likely to retain a settled combination for the rematch.
Here is the predicted playing XI of Antigua and Barbuda Falcons for Match 24 against Trinbago Knight Riders:
Rahkeem Cornwall is expected to open the innings.
The powerful all-rounder can provide Antigua with an explosive start and is particularly dangerous when he gets room to free his arms. Cornwall’s ability to clear the ropes makes him an ideal Powerplay aggressor.
He will be hoping to convert his starts into a substantial score after making 26 off 17 balls against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Evin Lewis should partner Cornwall at the top.
The experienced West Indian left-hander has been one of the Falcons’ most productive batters this season. He was their leading run-scorer early in the tournament, with 113 runs after the first five matches.
Lewis’ ability to attack both pace and spin makes him a major threat during the Powerplay.
Amir Jangoo is likely to bat at No. 3 and take responsibility behind the stumps.
Jangoo has already shown that he can provide stability when the Falcons lose an early wicket. He played a valuable hand during the team’s recent victory over Barbados, helping rebuild the innings after Cornwall’s first-ball dismissal.
His wicketkeeping will also be important against TKR’s star-studded batting lineup.
Hasan Nawaz should retain his place in the middle order.
The Pakistan batter offers attacking strokeplay and can increase the scoring rate once the Powerplay is over. His ability to hit boundaries makes him an important bridge between the top order and the Falcons’ powerful finishers.
He also has the flexibility to bat according to the match situation rather than simply looking for boundaries from the outset.
Captain Moeen Ali is expected to continue at No. 5.
Moeen was the architect of the Falcons’ 30-run win over Barbados. Coming in with his side under pressure at 80/5, he remained unbeaten on 56 from 37 balls and smashed three consecutive sixes in the final over.
His off-spin also gives the Falcons an additional bowling option, while his leadership has brought considerable T20 experience to the side.
Shadab Khan is likely to slot in at No. 6.
The Pakistan all-rounder was the star of the Falcons’ previous encounter against TKR, smashing an unbeaten 52 off just 20 balls.
His leg-spin is equally valuable. Shadab can attack during the middle overs and create wickets against batters attempting to accelerate.
Shamar Springer should continue as the team’s pace-bowling all-rounder.
Springer has been among the Falcons’ most effective bowlers this season. He was their leading wicket-taker after the opening phase and has continued to contribute with both bat and ball.
His ability to bowl useful seam-up overs gives Moeen another reliable option.
Joshua James is expected to retain his place.
The young all-rounder has made an impact with his wicket-taking ability and can contribute useful runs down the order. Against Barbados, he claimed three wickets for 18 runs, playing an important role in dismantling the opposition batting lineup.
His ability to bowl at different stages makes him particularly valuable.
Alzarri Joseph should spearhead the pace attack.
The West Indies fast bowler has been one of Antigua’s leading wicket-takers in CPL 2026. His pace, bounce and ability to attack the stumps make him a dangerous new-ball option.
Joseph will have the difficult task of containing TKR’s aggressive top order, which includes Alex Hales, Matthew Breetzke and Nicholas Pooran.
Jayden Seales is likely to partner Joseph in the pace attack.
Seales brings genuine international experience and is capable of generating movement with the new ball. He can also bowl effective variations during the death overs.
His accuracy will be important against a TKR batting lineup that has plenty of power.
Sufyan Moqim could complete the XI.
The Pakistan left-arm wrist-spinner adds another dimension to Antigua’s attack. His variations can make it difficult for batters to attack him consistently during the middle overs.
Moqim’s presence alongside Shadab and Moeen gives the Falcons plenty of spin options.
Rahkeem Cornwall, Evin Lewis, Amir Jangoo (WK), Hasan Nawaz, Moeen Ali (C), Shadab Khan, Shamar Springer, Joshua James, Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, Sufyan Moqim
