Edinburgh Castle Rockers will look to continue their impressive run in the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 when they face Amsterdam Flames in Match 24 at Malahide, Ireland, on September 13. The fixture is scheduled for 10:30 AM local time, with both teams entering the second half of the league stage.
The Castle Rockers have been one of the more consistent teams in the inaugural ETPL season. Mitchell Santner’s side have built their campaign around a potent combination of international experience and European talent, with Trent Boult, Brandon McMullen, JJ Smuts, Ross Adair and Tom Curran playing important roles. The Rockers have also enjoyed an excellent bowling campaign, with Boult and Curran among their leading wicket-takers.
Edinburgh’s most recent combination has remained largely settled, with the team relying on Andries Gous behind the stumps and an attack featuring Boult, Curran, Santner, Mark Watt and Jack Jarvis.
Here is Edinburgh Castle Rockers’ predicted playing XI for Match 24 of ETPL 2026:
Ross Adair is expected to open the innings for Edinburgh. The Irish batter has been one of the team’s regular top-order options and possesses the ability to attack from the outset.
Adair has scored 91 runs in six appearances this season at a strike rate of 185.7, making his role during the Powerplay particularly important.
Against Amsterdam’s pace attack, Edinburgh will want Adair to make the most of the fielding restrictions and provide an aggressive platform.
JJ Smuts should partner Adair at the top of the order. The South African-born all-rounder has become an important part of Edinburgh’s combination because of his ability to contribute with both bat and ball.
Smuts has scored 160 runs at a strike rate of 142.9 and has also picked up four wickets this season. His versatility gives Santner plenty of tactical flexibility.
Andries Gous is expected to continue as the wicketkeeper-batter. The USA international has provided stability in the middle order while also handling the gloves.
Gous has accumulated 157 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 121.7. His ability to rotate the strike will be important if Amsterdam’s bowlers manage to contain Edinburgh’s aggressive opening pair.
Brandon McMullen is likely to retain his place at No. 4. The Scotland international has been one of Edinburgh’s standout performers with the bat, scoring 254 runs at an impressive strike rate of 156.8.
His ability to accelerate through the middle overs makes him a major threat to Amsterdam. McMullen also gives Santner a useful seam-bowling option.
Laurie Evans should continue in the middle order. The experienced English batter provides a wealth of T20 knowledge and can anchor the innings if Edinburgh lose wickets early.
Evans has also contributed in the field, with four catches in the tournament so far. His experience could be particularly useful in a potentially high-pressure contest.
Captain Mitchell Santner is likely to slot into the middle order and lead the side. The New Zealand all-rounder has been one of Edinburgh’s most valuable players, contributing in both departments.
Santner has scored 70 runs at a strike rate of 175 and taken nine wickets at an economy rate of just 5.88. His four overs of left-arm spin could prove crucial against Amsterdam’s dangerous batting unit.
Tom Curran should continue as the team’s seam-bowling all-rounder. The England international gives Edinburgh valuable depth with the bat but remains primarily important for his bowling.
Curran has already claimed 12 wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 6.38. His ability to bowl during the middle and death overs makes him an important part of Santner’s plans.
Mark Watt is expected to retain his place as the specialist spinner. The Scotland left-armer has been effective at controlling the middle overs and preventing batters from scoring freely.
He has taken four wickets in the tournament and gives Edinburgh another left-arm spin option alongside Santner.
Trent Boult should lead the pace attack. The New Zealand veteran has been one of the most successful bowlers in the competition, claiming 13 wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 6.13.
His ability to swing the new ball and execute yorkers at the death makes him a major threat to Amsterdam’s top order.
Jack Jarvis is likely to retain his place as another seam-bowling option. The Scotland all-rounder provides Santner with flexibility and has already picked up eight wickets this season.
His role could be particularly important if Amsterdam’s top order manages to negate Boult’s initial spell.
Gareth Delany should complete the predicted XI. The Ireland all-rounder provides another leg-spin option and adds depth to Edinburgh’s batting.
Delany has made four appearances this season and has contributed three catches, highlighting his value beyond his primary role.
Ross Adair, JJ Smuts, Andries Gous (WK), Brandon McMullen, Laurie Evans, Mitchell Santner (C), Tom Curran, Mark Watt, Trent Boult, Jack Jarvis, Gareth Delany
