Rotterdam Dockers will square off against Dublin Guardians in Match 10 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 at Sportpark Westvliet in The Hague on September 2. The fixture brings together two sides packed with international experience, with Faf du Plessis leading Rotterdam and Ravichandran Ashwin at the helm of Dublin. The match is expected to be played on a surface that offers good bounce for batting while also providing some assistance to spinners as the game progresses.
Both teams have plenty of firepower. Rotterdam’s squad includes Heinrich Klaasen, Anrich Nortje, Ben McDermott, David Wiese, Roelof van der Merwe and Logan van Beek, while Dublin can call upon James Vince, Daryl Mitchell, Harry Tector, Muhammad Waseem, Josh Little, George Dockrell and Ashwin.
Dublin, however, will be eager to put their recent disappointment behind them after suffering a heavy defeat against Glasgow Cosmic. The Guardians were bowled out for 150 while chasing 184 in their previous outing.
Here are the top 3 player battles to watch out for in Match 10 of ETPL 2026:
The opening contest could be a fascinating battle between Rotterdam captain Faf du Plessis and Dublin’s left-arm quick Josh Little.
Du Plessis is one of the most experienced T20 batters in the world. The former South Africa captain has built his reputation around calculated aggression, particularly during the Powerplay. He knows how to manipulate field restrictions and can switch gears rapidly once he gets settled.
However, Little presents a serious challenge with the new ball.
The Ireland pacer possesses the pace and movement required to trouble experienced batters. His left-arm angle can create uncertainty for right-handers such as du Plessis, particularly when he attacks the corridor outside off stump. Little’s ability to swing the ball early could force the Rotterdam skipper to play more cautiously than he would prefer.
Du Plessis, on the other hand, will look to put pressure on Little by attacking anything fractionally short or overpitched. If he survives the initial movement, he could use the pace of the surface to his advantage.
This battle could determine Rotterdam’s Powerplay. An early wicket for Little would give Dublin a huge boost, whereas a dominant start from du Plessis could put the Guardians on the back foot immediately.
The second battle could be the most tactically intriguing of the contest: Heinrich Klaasen against Dublin captain Ravichandran Ashwin.
Klaasen is arguably one of the most destructive players against spin in modern T20 cricket. The South African wicketkeeper-batter is exceptionally strong against slower bowlers and can clear the boundary with remarkable consistency.
That makes Ashwin’s role particularly important.
The veteran Indian off-spinner has spent years developing different variations and angles to challenge aggressive batters. His ability to change his pace, alter his trajectory and use the crease could make life difficult for Klaasen.
Ashwin is unlikely to simply bowl defensively. Against a batter of Klaasen’s quality, he could look to create a false shot by varying his length and forcing the South African to hit against the field.
Klaasen, meanwhile, will want to disrupt Ashwin’s rhythm. He could use sweeps and powerful drives to ensure the spinner cannot settle into a consistent line.
If Klaasen gets on top, Rotterdam could dominate the middle overs. But if Ashwin wins this particular contest, Dublin could put a significant brake on the Dockers’ scoring rate.
The battle is also important from a leadership perspective. Ashwin’s decision on when to bowl himself could have a major impact on the match.
The third key contest could see Rotterdam’s express pacer Anrich Nortje go up against Dublin opener James Vince.
Nortje brings genuine pace to the Dockers’ bowling attack and is arguably their biggest weapon when they need wickets. His ability to attack with hard lengths and generate bounce makes him a difficult proposition for batters looking to establish themselves at the top.
Vince, however, is an experienced T20 campaigner who has played extensively in domestic and franchise competitions. The English batter’s elegant strokeplay allows him to score quickly without relying solely on brute force.
The challenge for Vince will be to negotiate Nortje’s pace without allowing the bowler to dictate the contest.
Nortje will likely target the stumps and the top of off, while also using short deliveries to test Vince’s ability to handle the bounce. Vince will look to use his timing and placement rather than attempting to overpower the South African quick.
This battle could be especially significant during the Powerplay. Dublin’s batting suffered a major collapse against Glasgow, when they were reduced to 36/6, so a solid start from Vince will be essential.
If Nortje removes Vince early, Rotterdam could immediately gain control. But if Vince survives and begins finding boundaries, Dublin will have a much stronger foundation.
