Antigua and Barbuda Falcons will lock horns with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 12 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, on August 20. With both teams looking to strengthen their positions in the early stages of the tournament, the contest promises to be an exciting battle between two sides packed with explosive batting options.
The fixture comes at a crucial juncture of the competition. The Patriots have a strong mix of experienced Caribbean campaigners and international stars, while the Falcons have several destructive players capable of taking the game away from the opposition in a matter of overs. The match is scheduled for 7 PM local time at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
The Falcons’ previous XI included Rahkeem Cornwall, Evin Lewis, Tim Robinson and Tajinder Singh in the top four, while the Patriots’ recent combination featured Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers and Kevin Wickham in the batting department.
Here are the top three batters to watch out for in Match 12 of CPL 2026.
1. Evin Lewis – Antigua and Barbuda Falcons
Evin Lewis is arguably the most destructive batter in the Falcons’ lineup and will be one of the biggest attractions in Match 12. The left-hander has built a reputation as one of the Caribbean’s most feared T20 openers, thanks to his ability to dismantle bowling attacks during the Powerplay.
Lewis is particularly dangerous when he gets width outside off stump or receives deliveries in his hitting arc. His ability to clear the boundary with minimal foot movement makes him a difficult batter to contain once he settles into his innings.
The Falcons have been using Lewis alongside Rahkeem Cornwall at the top of the order, giving them an unconventional opening combination built around power. While Cornwall can attack spin and pace through sheer strength, Lewis brings a more traditional range of T20 strokes and can score rapidly against the new ball.
His matchup against the Patriots’ pace attack could be crucial. The visitors possess experienced bowlers capable of exploiting any early movement, but Lewis will be eager to make the most of the field restrictions.
With the Falcons playing at home, a strong start from Lewis could put Jason Holder’s team under immediate pressure. If he manages to bat through the Powerplay, he has the ability to turn a competitive total into a formidable one.
2. Johnson Charles – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
Johnson Charles is another batter who could make a major impact at the top of the order. The veteran West Indian opener brings enormous experience to the Patriots’ batting unit and remains one of the most dangerous players when he gets into rhythm.
Charles has the ability to attack from the outset, particularly against pace. His clean ball-striking makes him ideally suited to the Powerplay, where he can exploit gaps in the field and target the shorter boundaries.
The Patriots will be hoping for a stronger contribution from their top order after a difficult beginning to their campaign. In their opening game against Trinbago Knight Riders, they were reduced to 16/3 before Kevin Wickham attempted to revive the innings.
Charles’ experience could therefore prove invaluable. He has played a significant amount of franchise cricket around the world and understands how to construct an innings in the shortest format.
His battle against the Falcons’ new-ball bowlers, particularly Alzarri Joseph, will be fascinating. Joseph possesses the pace and aggression to challenge Charles early, but if the Patriots opener survives that examination, he could put the Falcons’ attack on the back foot.
For St Kitts and Nevis, a quickfire contribution from Charles would provide the perfect platform for Kyle Mayers, Kevin Wickham, Jason Holder and the rest of the middle order.
3. Kevin Wickham – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
Kevin Wickham may not have the same international profile as Lewis or Charles, but he has already shown why he is considered one of the exciting young batters in the Patriots’ squad.
The right-hander was one of the few positives from the Patriots’ defeat against Trinbago Knight Riders, scoring 38 runs after his team had been reduced to 16/3. His ability to absorb pressure while still finding opportunities to score makes him an important member of the batting unit.
Wickham’s biggest responsibility will be to provide stability if the Patriots lose early wickets. At the same time, he possesses enough power to accelerate once he becomes comfortable at the crease.
His role could become particularly significant against the Falcons because their bowling attack contains several wicket-taking options. Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales can create pressure with pace, while Usama Mir can challenge batters through the middle overs.
Wickham will need to choose his moments carefully. Rather than attempting to dominate every delivery, rotating the strike and targeting specific bowlers could allow him to build another important innings.
The Patriots will also be encouraged by the fact that Wickham has already demonstrated an ability to perform under pressure. If the experienced batters around him provide a platform, he could have the freedom to play a more aggressive role.
