The league stage of The Hundred Men’s 2026 has reached its conclusion, and the playoff picture is now clear. After eight group-stage matches for each team, Trent Rockets have secured a direct place in the final, while Manchester Super Giants and Sunrisers Leeds have booked their spots in the Eliminator. MI London narrowly missed out despite finishing level on points with the two teams above them.
The revamped 2026 season has produced plenty of drama, with the battle for the final two playoff positions going down to the last few fixtures. The three-way race involving Manchester Super Giants, Sunrisers Leeds and MI London remained alive until the final league games, making the closing stages particularly intriguing.
Trent Rockets have been the standout team in the men’s competition. They finished the league stage at the top with 24 points from eight matches, recording six wins and two defeats. Their reward is a direct ticket to the final at Lord’s on August 16.
The Rockets had already established a significant lead before their final league fixture and were guaranteed a top-two finish. Their excellent campaign meant they avoided the Eliminator altogether and now have additional time to prepare for the title clash.
Their consistency across the competition has been the biggest reason behind their success. Trent combined a powerful batting unit with a versatile bowling attack and managed to collect crucial victories throughout the group stage.
However, their final defeat against Southern Brave showed that they are not invincible. With the trophy now just one game away, Trent will need to quickly regain their best form.
Manchester Super Giants will enter the Eliminator as the second-placed team after producing one of the most important performances of the league stage.
The Super Giants defeated Sunrisers Leeds by 10 wickets on August 11, chasing down a target of 128 with 33 balls to spare. That emphatic victory lifted them to 20 points and, crucially, gave them a superior net run rate over Sunrisers.
The result also ensured that Manchester would finish second, meaning they will face third-placed Sunrisers Leeds in the Eliminator on August 14.
Manchester’s qualification is particularly impressive considering the intense competition for the final playoff places. Their top order, featuring the likes of Tim Seifert, Paul Walter and Jos Buttler, has provided considerable firepower, while their bowling unit has delivered when required.
Now, they have an opportunity to reach the final by beating a Sunrisers side they have already defeated convincingly.
Sunrisers Leeds entered the final round of fixtures in second position but suffered a huge setback against Manchester Super Giants.
They had 20 points heading into the contest and knew that a victory would keep them in contention for a direct place in the final. Instead, they were bowled out for a modest total before Manchester completed a comfortable chase.
Despite the defeat, Sunrisers’ excellent net run rate meant they remained ahead of MI London and secured third place.
They will now have to take the longer route to the final. Their reward for finishing third is an Eliminator against Manchester Super Giants at The Oval on August 14.
MI London came agonisingly close to qualifying for the playoffs. The defending champions finished fourth with 20 points, the same tally as Manchester and Sunrisers, but their inferior net run rate proved decisive.
Their elimination is one of the biggest talking points of the season, particularly because they were defending the title and had enough quality to challenge for another championship.
The playoff structure is straightforward. Under The Hundred’s format, the team finishing first qualifies directly for the final, while the second- and third-placed sides meet in the Eliminator. The winner of that match advances to the final against the table-topper.
