Glasgow Cosmic and Belfast Wolves will lock horns in Match 13 of the European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026 at Sportpark Westvliet, Voorburg, on September 4. The encounter, scheduled to begin at 3:15 PM local time (6:45 PM IST), brings together two sides packed with international stars and experienced European cricketers.
Glasgow have plenty of firepower in their ranks, with George Munsey, Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Richie Berrington, Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi among their key players. Belfast, meanwhile, can call upon Glenn Maxwell, Paul Stirling, Devon Conway, Mark Chapman, David Miller, Chris Jordan and Fred Klaassen.
With so much quality on both sides, individual contests could have a major influence on the outcome.
Here are 3 player battles to watch out for in Glasgow Cosmic vs Belfast Wolves in Match 13 of ETPL 2026:
The battle between George Munsey and Fred Klaassen could set the tone for the contest during the Powerplay.
Munsey is one of Scotland’s most destructive white-ball batters and is expected to open the innings for Glasgow. His strength lies in taking calculated risks during the fielding restrictions, particularly when bowlers offer width. With Jason Roy likely to partner him, Glasgow could look to attack Belfast from the very beginning.
Klaassen, however, is precisely the type of bowler who can disrupt that plan. The Netherlands seamer possesses extensive experience in T20 cricket and can make the ball move enough in the early overs to trouble aggressive openers.
The conditions at Voorburg could also make this contest particularly interesting. Glasgow have already played several matches at the venue, meaning Munsey will be familiar with the surface, while Klaassen will look to exploit any movement available with the new ball.
For Belfast, getting Munsey early would be a major boost. The Scottish opener can take the game away from an opposition inside the first six overs, so Maxwell could be tempted to use Klaassen aggressively against him.
Munsey, meanwhile, will want to ensure that he does not allow Klaassen to settle into a rhythm.
Verdict: If Munsey survives Klaassen’s opening spell, Glasgow could gain a significant Powerplay advantage.
Few contests in the ETPL can match the sheer star power of Liam Livingstone versus Glenn Maxwell.
Both all-rounders are capable of winning matches almost single-handedly and offer their respective captains multiple tactical options. Livingstone is a destructive middle-order batter who can clear the boundary with remarkable ease, while his leg-spin and off-spin give Glasgow additional flexibility.
Maxwell brings a similar skill set to Belfast. The Australian is capable of batting anywhere in the middle order and can also provide valuable off-spin. More importantly, his experience in high-pressure T20 cricket makes him one of the Wolves’ biggest match-winners.
The intriguing part of this battle is that it could unfold in more than one way.
Livingstone could find himself facing Maxwell’s spin if Belfast choose to attack him during the middle overs. Alternatively, Maxwell could be required to bowl against Livingstone if Glasgow’s big hitter arrives at the crease at the right time.
The two players could also influence the match with the ball. If Maxwell uses his off-spin effectively, he can force Glasgow’s batters to take risks. Livingstone, on the other hand, gives George Munsey another option to attack Belfast’s right-hand-heavy batting order.
Verdict: This is less about one over or one spell and more about which all-rounder exerts greater influence on the game.
The third battle pits Glasgow’s explosive opener Jason Roy against Belfast’s experienced pace-bowling all-rounder Chris Jordan.
Roy’s inclusion gives Glasgow another proven Powerplay aggressor. The former England opener has built his reputation on attacking fast bowlers and putting fielding captains under immediate pressure. His ability to score quickly means Belfast cannot afford to give him easy boundary opportunities.
Jordan, meanwhile, has spent years operating in precisely these situations. The England veteran is one of the most experienced T20 bowlers in the Belfast squad and possesses a wide range of slower balls, cutters and yorkers.
While Jordan is traditionally associated with the death overs, Maxwell could use him earlier if Roy begins to dominate the Powerplay.
That could make this a fascinating tactical contest. Roy will look to attack anything in his hitting arc, while Jordan will attempt to deny him pace and force him to hit towards the larger parts of the ground.
If Roy gets away during the first six overs, Glasgow’s batting lineup suddenly becomes extremely difficult to contain. Livingstone, Berrington and the lower middle order can then play with greater freedom.
For Belfast, Jordan’s objective will therefore be simple: disrupt Roy before he can build momentum.
Verdict: Jordan’s variations against Roy’s aggressive strokeplay could determine which side wins the Powerplay battle.
