The right-handed opener has scored 112 runs in two innings, averaging 56.00 and striking at 141.77. He has already hit 10 fours and five sixes in the tournament.
His campaign began with a sensational 73 off 51 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen. King played the anchor role in a huge Barbados total of 206/3, while also accelerating effectively towards the end of his innings.
He followed that with a useful 39 off 28 balls against Saint Lucia Kings. Although he could not convert his start into another fifty, his innings helped Barbados establish a strong platform before Sherfane Rutherford took over.
King’s consistency at the top gives Barbados an important advantage. While Quinton de Kock can attack from the outset, King is capable of playing a slightly more measured role before accelerating.
That combination has worked effectively for the Tridents.
Against Antigua, King will need to negotiate the new-ball threat posed by Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales. Both pacers possess the pace and movement to trouble him early, but if King survives that period, he could once again become the foundation around which Barbados build a big score.

Rutherford began his campaign with an unbeaten 50 off 28 balls against Jamaica Kingsmen, helping Barbados post 206/3. His knock was especially impressive because he accelerated dramatically during the final phase of the innings.
He then produced an even more destructive performance against Saint Lucia Kings, smashing 61 off just 31 deliveries. His innings included three fours and five sixes and earned him the Player of the Match award as Barbados won by nine runs.
Rutherford’s ability to attack spin and pace makes him a nightmare for bowling sides once he settles. He is particularly dangerous during the final five overs, when his power allows him to clear the boundary with remarkable consistency.
For Antigua, containing Rutherford will therefore be one of the biggest priorities.
